Okay, I know you answers to the above 5 issues. You are NOT challenged.

However, other posters on this thread must drive to work in the "short bus" that have issues with their steering cable install hahahaha

Dave this sort of antagonism will get you band from TO, surely we don't want that....do we?
The steering cable job sucks! It's not a 30 minute job AT ALL. This is BS. If you've done it before, thats one thing. If you've never done it before, it will take you a good half day. I had to fix all kinds of hardware and electrical issues that added to my day, plus it was 95F with full sun, plus I added two more Hella Euro lights. (the one's you can't afford) Now be a good little boy and go play with your friends down the street (WW).

Anytime EKS. I did mine it took about 3 hours. Then I did my neighbors MC it was no more than an hour. I learned all the little tricks to make it easier and much faster.

Banded? Wow, coming from someone that requested for their account to be disabled because of the "lack of support" on this forum. hahaha

Then thinking about this, you were the one that returned and started slinging mud.

Friends on WW, well at least they are properly medicated

Sorry TO's, we have an issue that Nobody can't take to PM'ing and wants to continue to push out to all

The biggest key to doing these cables is an air ratchet. I will take pictures and do a complete write up on the 24V once I get my cable in hand to replace. I think OWN said he did his in about 45 minutes. I may be wrong though. I think the hardest part is taking the floor up on the boat. On the 24V you have to take out the back seat and all that or you can get tricky like I do and just take out the screws for that back compartment and wedge it up so you can lift up the floor from the lock pins and pull it out. That saves about 40 minutes every time.

I agree w/ the air ratchet's 100%. These tools are the key guys!!!!

These make this job go so fast.... especially w/ a second person and a second air ratchet. You guys that think this job is a half a day are either lazy or not getting after it. Or like often the case w/ many DIY's, using the wrong tool for the job!

I would see no problem w/ people saying this is an hour and half job... but 45 mins is easily attainable by one person. The 30 mins w/ two competent people is not unrealistic.

X2 my 16 year old did one in 30 minutes. But later I found out he put the rack on backwards at the wheel so when you turned right the boat went left and when you turned left the boat went right. DOMZ06 can tell you about it since it was his boat.. It was an easy fix though when he figured it out.

Believe it or not, I did the exact same thing! HAHA. My friend caught it as I was putting the last screw in. Easy enough fix.

Tanner--- You got VEEEERRRY lucky. I am extremely comfortable with anything mechanical and I gave up on my damn cable. I fished for a good 3 hours and finally said "f this" Bitch of it is the bastards charged me the full $300 install and they got it 90% done and didn't have to reasemble back seats/floor and all that crap.

I gladly paid that money though to get it out of my site!!
                  I won't try it again.
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

LOL. I know how you feel, I've had that happen w/ other stuff.

All I did was start feeding it through at the drivers seat... as it went down and to the floor I just forced the cable through and it hit the floor and turned up and popped up on top of the gas can enough for my friend to pull it. Keep in mind, I ran mine ON TOP of the gas tank... screw this running it underneath crap. That may be the difference for some of us (the way we're routing it I mean). I actually had heard how much of a bitch it was to route, so I had one of the trash grabber tools there w/ me to grab the end of it as I fed it through... luckily I didn't need it. But I think that would have worked to keep it routed on top for that first two foot. Remember.... that first two foot is all you gotta get routed... then just run the rest on top of the tank.

I did the install on a 24 V. I took about 20 minutes taking the floor and back seat out. Then cut the old cable just in front of the tranny and pulled it out. About 10 minutes for that but was using a dull sawzall blade. I then called a buddy to come help fish the new cable down over the gas tank. He couldn't come til the next day. When he came over I grabbed a 7 iron and handed it to him and when I stuff this new cable down hook it and bring it over the top of the tank. Done in about five minutes. Then making the connections on both ends took maybe 10 minutes. I know different boats will be different. I did take the brakcet that holds the cable under the motor off because the nut was a bugger. That took maybe an extra five minutes, but then with the bracket in a vise and being able to get some torque on the nut no biggy. I was happy that I did it myself. I also went with the new spec'd cable and went to Powell a couple days later and the best part is my wife loves the new cable. Thanks, SPBFan it works great! With a start and stop in the middle of the install I was at it less than an hour with the whole seat and floor deal. Also a few minutes to get the vynil cleaner to a couple spots that don't get to normally.
My dad always said "Stupid Hurts". He's yet to be proven wrong, but for some reason I keep trying.

                              2 hours

OK! I did my steering cable on my 2004 24V with a buddy. Less than 2 hours with some bench racing in between. Now my cable had been replaced before and was routed above the fuel tank so I believe that made it a little easier. It took longer to r/r the interior than to replace the cable.
If you can change drum brakes you can do this job!!! The tutorial in the how to section made this super easy.
My boat feels like it has had power steering installed.
