    taps 2 2004

My taps2 (all electric?) is throwing my breaker every once in a while. I saw a (grease fitting?) on the top of the pusher outside the boat. Does that need to be greased every so often? (and what type of grease?) or lubricate Thanks!

    That’s not a grease fitting.
It is an acorn nut, there are two of them.
Check this thread out and see if it helps.

If the TAPS is not moving at all when you trip the breaker, then yes.
To make sure it moves free, remove the pin the hold the actuator to the taps plate. Make sure the plate moves easily up and down. If it does, I would service the actuator. If it does not, then the hinges on the taps plate could be your problem.

so if it was full of nasty water (okay only 1/2 full), it's time to get a new one?.....

It depends on where the water is coming from.
If it’s coming from the cap or wires, you might be able to save it.
If it is coming from the o-rings on the shaft, then it’s time for a new one.
