Window Problem

I have a 1998 22i. When I bought the boat, the middle window (the one that flips over) didnt really mate up well with the side window. It was fine, vibrated a bit, but held OK. After the last 2 seasons it has shifted so that when I close this window, it basically falls right through and rests on the "dashboard" now.

I've looked underneath the dash and the screws and bolts are all there and nothing on the side wrap-around windows is loose or looks like it has shifted. The Tige dealer here wont touch it and Im at a loss to figure out how to get it back to normal.

Is this common and if so, any advise on putting it back to where it was without re-drilling new holes for the side windows.

PM teamallen, I think he replaced his walk-through window on his boat and it's the same year (and model, I think) as yours.

Have you added a lot of BALLAST lately that might have started this?

Im thinking maybe that if you added, or already have, a significant amount of weight your boat is flexing causeing the window not to mate well.

Window Problem

No additional ballast at all. I usually have no more than 5-6 people in the boat. Its just been gradual over the years, now to the point I have to do something about it.

Dude, I run with lots of ballast and have never had this problem. The hinge on the window wears down after a while and breaks. I'm looking at the same issue down the road for me as well.

I used to have this problem with my previous boat (Chaparral). I discovered that all the hardware for the windows had rattled loose. My brother and I could hold on to the outside corners of the windows (drivers and passenger side corner windows) while holding hands and pull it back in and it would stay in place for a few trips.

I took picture of it since then. I think there are only three ways to deal with it. Remount the windshield, do like I did and fill in the gap or an extend a shield like is mentioned in the thread. SInce I have a tower mounted mirror now I could probably remove the whole center glass? It is usually open the majority of the time for passenger pass through. Before the mirror was mounted on the center glass and I would keep closing it after every run.

Mike, great info, and thanks for the previous thread. Your pictures show an identical situation to mine, except the gap on mine is bigger and the window catches right on the bottom only now. I cant even pull the boat without it falling through. I will consider the 3 options you suggested. Thanks again.
