    storage hatch won't stay closed

I have a 2008 22ve and the storage hatch keeps popping when going down the lake or trailering it? is there anyway to adjust it so it won't open so easily?

    Which hatch is it?
Indecision may or may not be my problem

If its the walk through hatch, I placed stainless steel washers between the fiberglass and the latch piece.

Try to move the latch over. If that isn't possible maybe install a small "L" bracket where the latch is supposed to catch. I had to do that on a glove box. Good luck.

I have the same problem. The spring inside the latch is not strong enough to keep the latch "caught". I'm thinking of just replacing it with the twist type like on the port side, even though it's not as easy to open or latch closed...but it NEVER pops open

I climbed into my locker and had my wife close the hatch. That allowed me to see if the latch and to see what was happening. I found out that the "L" bracket wasn't high enough for the latch to fully extend allowing it to seem closed but when you hit a bump, it opened.

Nice wife. Mine would have check the life insurance and covered the boat back up.

The good thing was that there is a release handle on the inside of the locker.

thanks for the responses. it's the right rear storage area. i agree - the spring doesn't seem strong enough but i will try to make sure it is latching completely.

Here is your fix right here / with pictures

I had the same problem with mine at time of purchase. I have your fix right here, with pics even. It is very easy and cheap to make this better. A couple of faucet washers will fix you right up. Nice and quite, wont rust or oxidize. No problems since this little modification, See pic.

Been there, done that...and it still pops open, driving down the highway, riding in the water, makes no diff. I adjusted it out until the hatch would not close, to no avail. Mine is a weak spring, just haven't had time to take it apart and see if it is replaceable or if I need a whole new latch.

Also check the alignment of the hinge where it attaches to both the door and support bar. They can be adjusted some as well because the hinge screw holes are larger then the bolts. This will allow for you to take up some gap on the latch side of the door with out moving the latch.
