Question for Ragboy or other surf experts????

what rpm does the motor usually sit at whilst wakesurfing? and is it bad for the motor to run at those speeds/loads for long periods of time. cos your not really on the plane so the boat is pushing a lot of water and i guess that would be a fair load on the motor.

ive herd that you can "glaze" the cylinders of a car if you just potter around and never really give it a good strong run.. just wondering if any similar thing happens to a boat that surfs all the time?

No worries. Surfing is really not loading the engine as much as wakeboarding. If the load it greater then the friction between the water and prop, the prop just "slips" and the engine revs up a little.

Usually around 3000 rpm, sometimes a bit less. It depends on weight and speed and prop. The more you weight, you do get slippage/cavitation at times but the 1235 prop has mostly eliminated that.

I have 415 hours on my boat now, this will be a 200 hour season. 90% of that is leaning on the side surfing.

I have over 750 hours on my boat and we've surfed a lot in the last 4 years. No ill effects.
