    looking at new wakesurf board

Just need peoples opinions. We have a broadcast now (5.6) and our looking at a different board. Our shop was saying the hot item is the CWB razor (5). It would be used by weights from 110-230. The limited reviews I have read say the board is good for all different levels and weights. Supposed to be easier to stay in the wake and adjustable by taking off fins. We are newer to surfin but can ride without the rope. We have a 20V for making wakes. Thanks in advance for opinions.

Buy a wakesurfer from a surfboard company. Inland surfer, phase 5, or walker. Inland surfer sweet spot is a great board, easy to ride.

I have a 20V also and I am interested in how you are weighting the boat and what Taps setting and speed you run... I am having trouble getting a clean wave - I get big but bubbly... Sorry I can't really comment on new boards, mine is old school and it is all I have tried...

The Razr is a thruster I believe, and so is going to be nice and stable, but the downside is that it isn't going to very well, or easily. That round nose is fun for hang 5s and stuff but won't allow you to get your groove on carving very well. Most of the big WB manufacturer boards are designed for wakesurfing when it gets a bit choppy or when you are tired from wakeboarding and just want to chill.

This board is probably going to feel like a log for the 110lb person.

For that weight range, 2 boards would be better, but I understand the budget constraint. The Walker Project makes a board called the Comp X which is a board that is easy to ride but you can still cut it up with. Its an intermediate skill level board. The bullet is more intermediate to advanced. The bullet is faster and more agressive/responsive. To cover that weight range you would want a 5.0 in either. Actually the bullet comes in a 4.11.

Here is the shape of the bullet:

Here is the shape of the Comp X.

The comp x is cheaper and only $399 with traction and fins. Another good thing with these custom boards is that they use Future Fins so you can buy different size fins and experiment. Also, you can put the traction on yourself and you can do any color or option for the traction.

Those are the boards we can get at wake9 for you, but there are other great boards. Inland Surfer, Shredstixx, Phase 5 (skim), SMED and several others. I would try to go with a wakesurf company, and not a wakeboard company, but just my opinion.

+2 on getting one from a wakesurf board mfr. The wakeboarding company ones are ok for awhile but get pretty boring.

I started on a Comp 5.0 from Walker and we changed the fins around to make it faster. Then I ordered a James Walker Pro Model.

Walker builds a great board. the Comp 5.0 would be a good board to start and then be able to progress on.

I have the CWB Tsunami and you have to work the board to get it into the pocket. It works though. I have thought about picking up a ride to try though. I have heard it is for the rider that wants to get on the board and just stand there with a drink in hand. If you really want to surf though and do the tricks you need to go with the surf board company's that specialize in that type of equipment.
