    Best Time to Buy?

Hey Everyone, new to the forum and currently boatless

Wondered if I'm still a little early to be seeing the best prices on used boats? I definitely plan to have one by spring, but it would be nice to get a little late season riding in before I have to put it away and pay for storage.

Is it too soon for the good deals? Trying to decide if I should wait a few more weeks. Waiting sucks. . .

Just find a good deal and go for it. Are you looking for new or used?

Around here boat prices are still up there. The longer you wait the better. Maybe closer into the end of September. But with the economy there are always deals to be found out there. Not sure what your budget is, but you might want to check out a repo yard.

        I have one

I have a 2002 21I type r, that I may be interested in selling. I don't currently have the boat for sale, but we are looking to upgrade. It has about 127ish hours and is very well kept. It has many extras... A whole lot of sounds. Let me know if you are interested.

When you find the right boat for you buy it. Waiting for the "best time" is futile...there's ALWAYS going to be a "better" time.
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

I'm hoping to find something in the low 20s. This is the first boat and need to test the water *lame pun alert* to see if my wife and kids like it.

I think I gotta have a Vdrive as I think I need the seating space.

I'm hoping for a 2000-02 21v in the 400hr or less range. That seems to be about the right vintage for my budget.

As a reasonably new boat owner myself I recommend that you buy the boat now so you can get the most joy out of it as possible. No matter what kind of money you save by waiting the boat will never be a good investment. And look at it this way, if you buy it and it goes right into storage until next year you are just wasting your money on storage and you should wait until next spring to buy. Don't over think it, boat ownership is inherently illogical.

I'm not sure there is really a "best" time to buy a used boat.

It seems to me (in Colorado) that late Aug is a good time to buy a boat. People don't want to pay for winter storage, and/or winterize their boats so the sell them cheaper. Also in Jan/Feb is the best time to sell a boat. Everyone is excited from the boat show.

Since there is never a good time to buy a boat, it is always a good time to buy a boat.

Agreed on the thought if you find the right one, buy it when it is available. It'll all come out in the wash.

I literally signed the papers on my new (used) boat two weeks ago. Although boats are holding on to their value, I was able to find several good deals (probably due to the economy) - you really just have to keep your eyes and ears open. Ironically, I know of a pretty good deal... a 2007 20V with 70 hrs (still under factory warranty) for 25K. The boat looks perfect - owner just wants to sell it for what he owes on it.

If you're looking for a Tige, I'd go down and talk to the guys at the Ski Dock (620 in Cedar Park). They may know someone who's looking to sell or even have a boat in your price range.
