Cavitation while Surfing

Sorry, new to the site, hope this hasn't already been brought up. I have a 2006 22V. While surfing (especially when we have alot of people and weight), my boat cavitates and jumps around. Wondering if the pitch of the prop would help or if I need a 4 fin prop??? any experience with this?

I typically run around 1300-1500lbs of ballast, TAPS on 4 and 2-3 other guys in the boat. Speed anywhere from 10.5-12

Wave is sick, but just hesitates when it cavitates....

I went to a 1235 Acme prop from a 537 and it helped alot.

You saying you have a 3 blade currently?

Clarify what you mean by 'cavitates and jumps around'. Exactly what is happening?

Need more info, and need to clarify, cause that boat did not come with a 3 blade, and should have been an ACME 537 from the factory.

If you got a 3 blade, you got the wrong prop, if you've got the factory 4 blade ACME 537, then the ACME 1235 is the one to go with. I'm 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 999999999999999999999999999999999999% sure that boat has a 1.5:1 ratio.

Oh, a dinged/bent/tweaked prop can have the same effect, but i'd still rec upgrading to the 1235.

I notice the same little hickups in power, especially on turns with ballast loaded for dark side. I am looking ofrward to the 1235 next week on Lake Norfolk!

You will notice the biggest difference in the turns while loaded with the 1235. You will be super happy with the results.

Like the other guys said, downpitch the prop and you'll get better results.

Yes, I do notice it is worse on the dark side. I do fill the stock from ballast in the front, but I think they are only like 150 lbs. each.

Thanks for the suggestion on changing the prop. I am curious to see if it changes the wave at all...

By the way, where did you guys pick up the 1235's and how much $$$?

The prop change won't change the wake, however if you down pitch the prop, you will have better control when weighted at slower speeds.
