I would always be a little worried about my range. You don't want to get stuck in the middle of the lake out of juice, a gas can can't help you now.
It would be sweet for the weight distribution though. All those batteries are pretty heavy, but they could probably go almost anywhere on the boat without being in the way like a big engine.

Got it. I looked at the article after I posted here. Looks cool, but I wonder how many hours you would have to run the thing for the fuel cost savings to make up for the price tag. Rounding numbers and doing the math in my head I'm thinking around 1,200 days of heavy use. But if you really want to save the planet and wakeboard at the same time it looks like a good deal to me.
