    Samson Tower

Has anyone else had a severe rocking problem with their tower? I have the one for the Z1 and have the WS threesome on it. It rocks so bad through a little chop that it looks and sounds like it is coming off. I have had the dealer tighten the mounts and I constantly check and tighten all the rest but they are never loose. Love the look of the tower but am extremely frustrated and thinking of buying something different. How is the alphaZ?

Talk to Samson they have great customer service. I had a Samson tower on my first boat and took very good care of me. My Tige tower rocks quite a bit too but I also have heavy speakers on top.

I heared a Alpha Z could be in the $6k range if it can even be retro fitted to you boat.

I hate to say it, but you might experience this with any tower with 75lb's of speakers mounted to it, plus boards. X2 on calling samsom also.

That tower weight at the very top, is going to be very tough for any tower. Of all the towers I have seen, I think Samsons are the best to suit it. I know that I have noticed some more swaying since I added my Endless Wave Surfrack on top, with 2 large boards on it. In chop and wind, there is a type of resonance that can happen, and you have to watch it, or slow down. If you weighted down your car, and then strapped all kinds of weight to the top like that, you wouldn't expect to be able to drive full speed through a bunch of pot holes. If you have a Samson dealer near by, have them take a look and tighten if necessary, otherwise, you now have to take it more easy in chop.

Thanks guys. That is what I thought, just wanted to know maybe I was missing something. It is a lot of weight up there. Is there something other than lube to quiet down the hinge points?

Tell your wife thay in nasty water with windriven white caps and rolling waves from other boats the Razor does shake a bit without boards or skis on tower. I have a Pro60 Set up it and 4 55 wattt lights on my 07 20V.

My AlphaZ never budges with a pair of 60s and a pair of MB8s (as bog as 80s). (The stock racks are a different story--go Samson racks for sure).

As Majestic suggested, I would imagine retro-fitting an AlphaZ would be hugely expensive and probably impossible. It is not a bolt on tower.

I can live with the height of the AlphaZ. Yes, I have bumped my head on speakers (never the tower though). And yes I still love the tower (after grumbling a little while rubbing my head).

And the AlphaZ in an RZ1 is Bad Azzzz.
