What a great time tonight. This has been my second WW meetup/demo. We love hosting, so hit us up if ever going to be around Lake Oroville. We did this this past weekend with Randy Morrell and his crew, but we only had video. I will throw that up later this week or on the weekend. They had fun on the wake9 cruiser. Frank Wolter wanted to get a board for himself and he is a big guy, so we took him out. I told him to bring his kids and we will all surf since we were going out anyways. It was a great afternoon/evening. I love going out, and everyone just wants to surf til you have to turn on the lights, and then you have to stop when you can't see anymore. Lake was perfect, and almost had the place to ourselves.

Chris trys out the Walker Grom board first, he is only 110lbs, grom is good up to about 120-130.


Frank and I do ballast duty. Lets just say the wake was nice tonight.


We pulled out our SMED Wombat demo. Chris was very athletic, a skateboarder and snowboarder. So a faster, more maneuverable board, but not quite the Walker Bullet/JWSM seemed to be a good fit, and he instantly took right to it.



He will have a lot of room to grow on this board, he has big feet, and he handled it well.


Then Frank's daughter Lora took a shot on the wombat. She was a cutie and Thomas kept trying to show off for her.




So then the main purpose of the trip, Frank wants to demo our big guy board, the wake9 cruiser 6.0. I think we need to pitch in to get Frank a new PFD. ;-) Frank needed a bit more board, so we are ordering him a 6'6" board.


RJ took a turn, he is really starting to get comfortable on the Walker Project JWSM


He still has trouble getting his left leg up, he is much more limber in his right, so I have him doing stretches.

RJ has been working on his Stall 360. He has a video I put on his iPhone of James Walker getting air and doing a couple of stall 360s, and an ollie oop 360. He watches it CONSTANTLY studying his positioning and movements. Thanks for the inspiration James. Sean Cummings coming out last week also helped him with this trick. Here is a sequence, where he doesn't quite land it.












Here is a sequence where he lands it, just barely keeps from falling out. He is landing about 1/4 of them now, and getting better with practice.

Whitney is up, she likes the tail slide, and is also getting competent on the Walker JWSM.




I LOVE this picture of Whitney. If you are ever having a bad day, spend 15 minutes with whitney. Her smile and bubbly attitude can cut through anything.

Its getting dark, but T-Bone throws a gun show. He actually has a couple of pea shooters to show off.


We had a great afternoon, and Chris still wanted to surf again, he loved the SMED Wombat. We turned on the lights and he surfed back in. We finished it off with a run to Taco Bell where Frank treated us to dinner.

Special thanks to the Walkers (surfdad). Let James know how much he has inspired RJ. I kid you not, how much he watches that video I put on his iPhone for him of James tearing it up. He is working on his run for the Northwest contest. I can't wait to get the Walkers and James on my boat, so we can take tons of video and pictures and show everybody how great of a wakesurfer he is.

You should do a board Demo day. I would come down for that. I will probably want to upgrade from the IS Blue lake next year.

Everyday is board demo day. I should have more stock next year. I am working on some cool ideas for demos for next season. I am just getting started.

Question 1:
Could Frank free surf on the 6.0?

Statement 1:
Today is MY day to free ride. We're here at TableRock Lake in southern Mo and I have a crew of 9--our family (me/wife/18son, 15 daughter) and another family (husb/wife 18 son & 15 daughter and another 18yr old who brought their 5'6" surfboard--a starter Liquid Force board --it's blue) Of the 9 person crew, it's a bunch of dang flatbellies....except for my pal 240# and one of the 18 year olds 230#. They will be in corner, rest will hover.

I hope to get the hang with the bigger board and with all the peopleballast then move to the 5.0 Razr we have.

We have a camera and I hope to be posting a success

It is a perfect day. The big board you have may be an excellent xmas present

Frank is 320, he was so close. He got his balance right, but just not quite enough board. He could probably do it, if it stayed glassy, and perfect conditions, and he held that perfect spot behind my large wave. So I ordered him a cruiser 6'6" model. He will have it in 3 weeks. That will get him up. The 6.0 I would say is good to 275, and maybe push it up to 300 in the best conditions with big wake.

How much do you weigh? And where are you from?

Are there any tricks to getting a bigger guy up on the board? One of our (big boy) crew has tried a few times but cannot seem to get up on top of the board. I have tried every variation of start I know.

We have not done a platform start (yet).

Any tips?

don't do a platform start. Especially with a big guy. Last thing you want is for him to smack his head on the boat, especially being bigger.

First, get a big guy up SLOW. do just above idle, about 1200-1500 rpm or so and watch them in mirror. When the board is flipped up, then you ease them up nice and easy.

Second, in order to ride, big guys have to get very far up front on the board. So the natural thought is to have them START this way when getting up, this is wrong. When you start with feet farther forward, you fight the boat pull more because it is more difficult to rotate the board so that the board is now going the same direction as the boat. Have them start with feet back so it is easy to get up and point board. Then once they can get up and into flats they can adjust the feet and then work into wake.

How big is he? The other issue is you need plenty of board. a 5ft board will work on a guy up to 250 or so on an average wake, but tougher if bigger.
