    New RZ4 tower

    Hello,

I'm looking to get some feedback on the new RZ4 towers. The Tige tower I have now is pretty rickety and flexes too much side to side when boating. Sometimes it sounds like it's going to vibrate loose from the boat. All the hardware is tight, but since it's made to fold down I just don't think that you can get it really solid. I've seen the new style ones on the Malibu's and now the new RZ4's. Anyone know where they are sourced from or how to get any info on them?

I'm guessing you have the Tige "E" series tower. It's actually a pretty solid tower. On ours, most of the noise was from the bimini, not the tower. Have you double checked all the joints/feet for tightness? I'll bet there's a couple places you didn't realize, that need a snugging up.

I'm pretty sure your local Tige dealer will be the only place to acquire a new Alpha Z tower.

A friend of mine just looked into this and Tige Watersports in Corona quoted him $6000.

zombie - both the 'Bu Illusion and the Tige Alpha Z were manufactured by Metcraft, who just went into bankruptcy. Rumor is that another tower manufacturer is buying the molds and equipment, so they will continue to be available (but I don't know if they may be in short supply for a while). They are not inexpensive, though.

If you want to check one out, call Matt at The Boat Shop in Boulder City. If he has an '09 in his shop, I'm sure he would be happy to show you all the bells and whistles. Or if we could meet up, I'd be happy to let you check out ours (send me a PM).

As far as feedback...I love ours. It is solid feeling for sure. Easy and quick to fold and raise, even by just one person and with tower speakers attached. The bimini is nice without any poles or straps coming down to attach. The view for the driver is clear without any forward tower legs. And I like the styling. Only two drawbacks that I can think of (besides price) are the low height of the tower if you are a tall person, and that the swivel board racks have a clearance problem between the top board bindings and the extended bimini.

I need to preface that we are now a samson dealer. But all the videos and pictures of my boat, has the Samson Switchblade tower. I researched and bought it for my boat, a year before I ever started thinking about being a dealer or talking to Scott. IMHO, the best, bar none. Incredibly sturdy. go to http://wake9.com/ and check out all the pictures and video, and feel free to contact me.
