    RIVAL Ballast system

I've seen alot of posts about installation of RIVAL Ballast Systems. I have an 06 24V. Does anyone have a link to RIVAL? I can't seem to find any info other than whats on the posts. Thanks

I'm 90% sure they dont exist anymore, they closed up their dealership last year.

Every thing you need can be obtained through other sources, a couple of which are TO.com members

Either chpthril or SPBFAN can source an entire system for you.

Like Dog said, we can help. I'm working on a 1-stop-shop kit, but it's still aways away. It's hard to do as every boat is different, and every owner has a different need/goal to achieve. I have a source for everything, but there are still places that some stuff can be found cheaper buy you as the buyer. I'm not quite to the point that I can command a volume discount so I dont mind telling peeps where to find stuff cheaper.

X 2 on this. I have the same issue. I have put a package together several times and it never works for each person. The way CHP and I do it is almost custom to each boat out there and to each persons needs so it makes it real hard to do a shot gun or can system that fits all makes models and needs because some people may be buying a lot of things they do not need.

BTW, there's lots of posts on guys doing their own ballast install. I'd start by reading those and then you get an idea of what you're looking for. After that, it's a matter of sourcing parts. I went with a pretty standard setup, except for my intakes, which I had to take through the transom. There wasn't enough room for 1 big one, so I went with 3 smaller ones.

A couple of things to keep in mind. If you do go with a thru hull on the bottom of your hull, make sure it does not interfere with either your depth finder's transducer or any paddle wheels you may have for your speedo/PerfectPass. That was the one thing that caused me to go through the transom instead. After that, it's a matter of plumbing and wiring. Pretty easy to install once you get over having to drill holes in your boat.

Thanks guys. In your professional opinions what are the best sacs, valves, intakes, pumps, etc... that work for an 06 Tige' 24V? If I had the manufacturer names I could then source. Or, if you want you can give me a quote on the systems you think would work best. I'm definately a DIY guy and I'm not afraid of putting holes in the boat. Only thing is I wish I thought of this during our 9 months of winter when the boat was in the garage.

Sacs: Fly High, they have the best quality, selection, and lots of matching hardware for most any configuration.

Pumps: If you can swallow the $$$, then go with the reversible Jabsco Ballast Puppies. Other wise, just about any of the aerator type live well pumps work. The Attwood Tsunamis are about bullet proof, cheap. The T800gph pumps are the easiest to work with, but slower then the T1200gph pumps. They are fast, but they have an odd fitting size that's hard to plumb to. The Johnson's are pricier then the Attwoods, but you can get an 1100gph pump with 3/4NPT that will screw right into std schedule40 PVC, which is the common choice for the pickup/pump manifold.

For hose, you need to use a coil reinforced hose if you go with the Jabsco's as they will draw a vacuum and suck a std hose shut. For an aerator system, std reinforced hose will work, but I would recommend the coil reinforced anyway.

I prefer to use a mushroom thru-hull as apposed to a scoop pickup. I also like to drain the sacs out the sides, as opposed to back out the bottom like many do when using the Jabsco. The Ballast Puppies are prone to impeller failure when the pump is allowed to fun dry. When draining out the side, you know the sacs/tanks are empty when the boat quits pissin'

Thanks Chpthril, I'll do some digging. Do you have a website you'd recommend or a dealer that carries all the stuff mentioned?

That's like asking a street walker where to get a good piece of @$$

No worries, it's easier than you think and shouldn't take more than a weekend to do.

I would talk to someone who's installed it on a 24V.
