Launch pad ballast?

Has anyone used the Straight Line Launch Pad equipment? Is the Uber Pump quality or not? I have the factory ballast in my '07 RZ2 and was thinking of getting the 800 pounder. Is that overkill or would the 540 pounder suffice? Also, would the 800# fit in the starboard rear locker with the factory ballast box back there? The 800# is 50"/24". The 540 is 50"/20". I'm out of town for work and can't measure.

I have several. The pumps break real easy at the fitting to the hose and after that they are toast. I like the Tsunamis better. If you go the Tsunami route, go with Fly High

I've heard of a lot of Uber pump failures. The Tsunami by Attwood seem to be pretty bullet proof.

Not sure about the straitline sacs, but the Fly High W705 sac is a good fit for the Tiges with factory ballast. It measures 60L x 26W x 10H and is rated at 650lbs when full. It will stretch out in the under-seat storage, which is not quit 26" wide, so it wont quite hold the 650lbs. Maybe a good 500lbs in addition to the factory ballast. Fly High also has the best selection of fittings that give you lots for options for manual or built-in automated systems. The blue plastic fitting that's used to fill the Straightline sacs are prone to leak and break and the water bed fittings seem to strip easy.

If you are aiming to put the sack in the starboard locker, then I am sure your locker is not 50 inches long. My 24V lockers were about 42 inches long and I think the RZ2 is a little less than that when I looked inside them multiple times.

You can't have too much weight for surfing...unless you sink, that is. Spend the bucks and do Tsunami and fly high, you won't regret it.

Thanks for the specifics. What about the W707? It looks a bit shorter plus it says it holds 750#. Also, what's with all the extra attatchments between the pump and the bag? It's kind of overwhelming. The prices of the bags seem to be all over the place. The pumps all are priced at $99 though. What do you think?

The W707 is also 50 inches long, which I am pretty sure is too long for your locker.

All you need is the Tsunami and the bag...the bags I just bought came with the attachments you would need for a Tsunami pump. SO you should just need to buy the bag and the Tsunami. You can get complicated with various fittings when you plumb them in permanently, with various quick connects and such.

BTW, I have a pair of red V-drive sacs for sale for $185 if anyone wants them. And they have the fittings for a Tsunami pump. Never been out of the box. I bought them, then realized that there is one that fits better.

In fact, what I am going to use might fit better for you also. Look down the Barefoot international page and check the Xstar custom ballast. The rear bags are 40 X 22 X 22. That would be 700 pounds. They are not cheap at $250 each, but would probably fit your locker just right.

CHP or Sbfan can probably hook you up with some prices better than the list price.

Like Talltige pointed out, the W707 is 20H x 20L x 50L. The under-seat storage is about 12" high, so with the W707, you are loosing roughly 1/3rd (8H x 20W x 50L) of the sac. Keep in mind that the storage area dictates how much the sac will fill when the sac is larger then the compartment. Kinda like using a 55gal garbage sac in a 30gal trashcan, it still with only hold 30 gallons.

I need to do the math on this one again, but when a couple of us looked at this awhile back, the W705 was the better fit. Even tho is was still larger the the storage, it measured out to hold more then the 750lb W707.

Now, I will say, the MSRP on the W707 is a little less then the W705. If you can get some hard dimensions of the storage area, then we can determine which is a better fit (holds the most as both are larger then the storage). Fly High make a number of different sacs as well as custom. There are a few sacs that are quite popular, so they are a little better deal then the less popular sacs. They only sell one manual-fill pump, the W709 Tsunami by Attwood, and the MSRP is $99.00.

Thanks for the good explaination Chp. I get home this weekend and will check on the starboard side locker. Im a darksider, so i want to get enough over there. That makes great sense though. Much appreciated.
