Moving to So Cal, where to Boat?

There is a chance the family and I will be moving from Nor Cal to the San Diego area. We have a 22ve and almost live on it during the summer. So we are wondering where the wake boarders can be found down there! It would seem that lakes are hard to come by from looking at a map. Any help would be great. THX.

Well, the best place it the Colorado river/lakes.
Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity. Albert Einstein

In SD you have Mission Bay if you want to put the boat in to salt water & than there is San Vicente Lake.

Your probably about 45 minutes south of Lake Elsinore as well.

As far as lakes in Southern Cal vs. Northern Cal...there is no comparison. Way more to choose from up here. You can get some nice water before 7AM on the weekends, but other than than I think its a crap shoot (thats just my opinion between living and boating up here vs down there).

My parents live in LA and only take the boat out for weekend trips to: Nacimiento, Mead, Mojave, Colorado River, Shasta, Delta, Powell. In other words they only boat outside Southern California.

I lived in SoCal until 2003. Local stuff is only good on weekdays, and can even be busy then. If you are used to NorCal, you are in for a rough time.

San Vincente is now closed for 10 years due to extension (raising) the dam. Everyone in S.D. goes to the "river" in the Yuma area. I personally prefer Havasu or the Parker strip. Mission Bay sucks unless you get there at sun up on a Tuesday. Lot's of cops, regulations, and salt water.

Sail Bay can be good during the non-summer months. Best consistent place to ride is out at Lake Elsinore. You can get some good water any day during the non-summer months. PM me if you need more info.

HAHA! I was curious if another Tige owner moved into the area (need people to ride). Saw a 20V on Sail Bay the other morning and a couple Tige's last Saturday at Elsinore.

I just returned from 8 days in Parker on the river. Tons of Tige's on the river. Good times. Tons of So Cal people make the trip to the river for the weekend.

If you go on Tuesdays there is plenty of nice water in So Cal. I live in the LA area, and we have Piru (really tiny) Pyramid (watch out for floaters) Castaic (pretty small and restricted use areas) that I frequent, then there is Parris and Elsinore which have mixed reviews as well. If we really want to get some quality water in Southern California we go to Arizona or Nevada. Parker, Havisu and Mead are not too far, but my personal favorite is Mohave. Cheap rooms, food and entertainment in Laughlin and the water just gets better the farther you get from Davis Dam in either direction. Even on a busy weekend I have been able to find a little bit of smooth water there. Or of course we all head north every once in a while.
