There is a chance the family and I will be moving from Nor Cal to the San Diego area. We have a 22ve and almost live on it during the summer. So we are wondering where the wake boarders can be found down there! It would seem that lakes are hard to come by from looking at a map. Any help would be great. THX.

Well, the best place it the Colorado river/lakes.Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity. Albert Einstein

As far as lakes in Southern Cal vs. Northern Cal...there is no comparison. Way more to choose from up here. You can get some nice water before 7AM on the weekends, but other than than I think its a crap shoot (thats just my opinion between living and boating up here vs down there).
My parents live in LA and only take the boat out for weekend trips to: Nacimiento, Mead, Mojave, Colorado River, Shasta, Delta, Powell. In other words they only boat outside Southern California.

If you go on Tuesdays there is plenty of nice water in So Cal. I live in the LA area, and we have Piru (really tiny) Pyramid (watch out for floaters) Castaic (pretty small and restricted use areas) that I frequent, then there is Parris and Elsinore which have mixed reviews as well. If we really want to get some quality water in Southern California we go to Arizona or Nevada. Parker, Havisu and Mead are not too far, but my personal favorite is Mohave. Cheap rooms, food and entertainment in Laughlin and the water just gets better the farther you get from Davis Dam in either direction. Even on a busy weekend I have been able to find a little bit of smooth water there. Or of course we all head north every once in a while.
