Does anyone else start at 45-90 degrees relative to their eventual pull direction so they can (immediatley) turn smoothly into the surf wake side allowing the rider to come up outside?

We have, and that helps, but that also slows down the rider. So when you do that, they are more likely to sink.

So the issue is, when teaching people especially, they have a hard time getting OVER the wave and the mush. The thing is, we tow from the center of the tower, because that is how we wakeboard. But we have been doing a bunch of testing, and that is NOT the best place to tow for wakesurfing. The best place to tow is on the corner of the tower, on the side you are surfing. Here are the benefits.

        1. The rider is pulled up from the side they are on, and doesn't have to fight the pull from the center to get over wake. They just naturally are outside the wake. It REALLY helps beginners.

        2. You don't have to pull in the rope and throw it out anymore. This was a unknown side effect when we started working on this. When you pull from the side, and you pick up a rider from the same side, the rope is RIGHT where you want it, not behind the boat. So you don't have to pull it in, and throw it out each time.

I haven't seen any negatives, and we have been doing this for a couple of weeks. So we created a prototype of a tow out of an old DBOT 5 tower mount, a large bolt, a spacer and a couple of washers. Its ugly as hell, but it works. And this mount is old, and ugly and it holds up to 200 lb rider.

So I should have my first production version today, Samson is making them for me. I call them the wake9 surf nubbins. Cuz it reminds me of like having 3 nipples on the tower, I know, but it stuck. Even my 4 yr old yesterday says "dad, the rope isn't on the nubbin". Oops, we will move it right over honey. Pretty funny. Anyway, this thing works, I will post pictures and video when I have it, I already have a bunch of video of showing how well the concept works.
