    Glue down gator grip?

I would like to redo our swimplatform with gator grip however the only stuff that is available does not have a sticky backing and needs to be glued down. The stuff I used before had a sticky backing and worked great.

Not sure how glue would hold up in the water. If not I am going with seadeck and a sticky backing.

Has anybody glued gator grip to gel-coat?
I'm on a boat man. I got my flippy floppies....

I was in the same situation when I did my swim platform. Per the recommendation of airjunky (where I bought my grip), I used 3M brand 90 spray adhesive. About $15 at Home Depot, Lowe's, etc.

After peeling off the black factory tige e' grip, I cleaned the gelcoat with Goof Off to remove the remaining adhesive, then followed that up with alcohol to remove the residue. Then, per the can directions, applied adhesive to both the platform and the grip. Let it get tacky (1 minute or so) and install. Airjunky said this stuff is as good at the adhesive backing.

      Well, how has it worked?

He told me to use that stuff also.

DAP Wood Contact Cement. I think it is actually called WeldWood. It is what Hydro-Turf uses. I used it on a jet ski and it held up for years, Still is as far as I know.

So far, so good. It has only been a month or so, but I haven't seen any indication that the edges are starting to loosen up. Feels solidly affixed.

Hey Rushin, my buddy just ordered(well maybe 3 weeks ago) 6 full sheets and it has the sticky back. Are you saying they don't make the sticky-back gator grip anymore or it is temporarily unavailable?

              Rushin

I did exactly like dingleberry on my platform earlier this year. Stuff works great. I did my trailer fenders with it in 2005 and it is still solid there also.
              Let it be!!!

It depends on where he ordered it from. As far as I know there are two places to get it. wakejunky.com and airjunky.com. Wakejunky calls it gator grip airjunky calls it traxx. I have been talking to airjunky because they have the color that I want, but he does not have it with the sticky backing.

Rushin, have you checked into SeaDek? They have premade RZ2 pads available for $250 or so. I am thinking about going this direction for my boat and thought that you would be interested.

da, I have and recently noticed the RZ pads but $250 seems a litle steep when you can get a full sheet of the stuff for $100 and do it yourself.
