    Grilles on Wetsounds

My speaker grilles on my 3-some are tarnished pretty badly. The plastic chrome looks horrible. I always have them covered when not in use. I bought the Wetsounds speaker sox when I got the speakers. My dealer told me they all do it and nothing can be done. Any input would be great. I spent enough and thinking they should last more than 1 season.

Can you paint them to match your boat?

I can but really like the chrome. I probably will try that

E-mail wetsounds directly, I think they might warranty the grills out for you. I'm pretty sure I know someone that had the same thing and got replacements.

^^^ Ditto, warranty but IMO, I would call them. Tim has suggested the phone call much more than the email.

yes, give us a call or e mail and we can see about getting you taken care of. We have tried 4 different plating processes and do the ATSM standards for testing for 400 hours salt fog and UV but there are so many variables when it comes to the grilles. I have seen some last for years and some last for 3 months. Location, climate, humidity, type of water, UV etc...

So what we have done is we are now done tooling up a new grille that is stainless steel overlay. This will be replacing the chrome plated ones on future runs and also be available for purchase alone for those with the older grilles wanting to upgrade to the ss ones. So no more worries on the grilles.

I will post info when they are shipping.

I had similar issues with my Monster bullet speakers. While they admitted to having some plating issues, I think some of it may have had to do with my speakersoxx. I had the first batch Scotchguarded and I'm wondering if that affected the finish.

                Thoughts?

My new ones have no issues, but I replaced my speakersoxx with ones that weren't Scotchguarded.

My wetsounds are doing the same....I use non-scotch guarded speaker sox when they are not in use. I attribute it to the rediculous heat here in AZ. I think I may take my grilles off and paint them to cover the corrosion until the new grilles come out.
