    Lake Conroe, Texas

We are considering a boat. I have not skied in years and when I did, Lake Conroe back then was rough. We used to ski around this island on the west side of the lake. Seems if you put in on the north side of the lake there has to be calmer waters up that way? I ride the national forest alot and when I cross that most northern bridge that crosses the lake there is never anyone up there and the waters are sowheat! Hope I am not letting the cat out of the bag so to speak but someone pm me some other secret spots around this area..

It can still be the "Gulf of Conroe" on most days. Travis is much nicer and worth the drive for smooth water IMHO.

Lake Travis is awesome, when it has water in it, and that is not the case right now. The only open ramp will probably be closed in a week or so due to low water. Stupid drought...

On the weekends, Conroe is absolutely ridiculous. I sold the 18.5 ft bass boat this spring b/c it beat the wife up too much.

The SJRA screwed up by allowing residents to bulk head their property. If they wanted to bulk head it, they should have been required to place rocks in front (think Seven Coves light house and the dam area).

BTW, yes the northside is incredibly calm, but you have to know the lake "trails thru the stumps" pass the bridge. I think if you get a 22 ft you should be fine.

Conroe is good in the morning on weekends. Sunday morning have been really good over the last month or so.

National park screwed up the ski cove by putting in the sandy beach and no wake bouys. I ski mostly on Little Lake creek between Bentwater and Walden. We took out all the stumps back when the lake was low, so my cove is very safe. This is my 5th summer on this lake. Let me know if you need any help havigating...

If you want miles and miles of glass, you need to go up to the Trinity river, North of Huntsville.

Let me know if you want to ride(before you get your boat)... I live on Lake Conroe and usually ride 3-4 days a week.

I was up on Cornhole tonight. The water was like it always is, or at least what I remember from 18 years ago. I have heard of going a little more north to the national forest side, but I was a little nervous because of stumps.

Skyski, maybe you can show me the ropes up on the lake.
