Just had this exact problem with my boat and fixed it yesterday. I contacted the manufacture of the seal PYI. They have a new and improved seal that TIGE is not installing on the boats yet.

You will need to remove the back seat back, the lower back seat cushions, There is about 5-8 screws in the carpet strip at the floor on the very back bench, feel around and find those and remove that small decrotive carpet srip. Behind that there is three big screws that hold the back access panel in to access the transmission area and three screws behind the back seat as well remove all those and remove the access panel. It is easier than it sounds just takes some time is all.

Here is how to check your old seal first. There is two 1/8 inch Allen set screws in the stainless steel collar on the shaft. Remove the first screw that is a set screw.

Then loosen the other screw up the collar should move free on the shaft. Use a rag with Acetone and clean the collar and seal make sure there is not rough spots or debris stuck to either the carbon seal or the stainless steal collar.

Once you do that get the seal straight and let the collar rest against it with no tension. Use a Sharpee. Mark the shaft and collar position.

Once the rest position is marked push the collar creating tension against the carbon seal about 3/4 of an inch from your mark and tighten it into position.

WHAT ever you do do not collapse the seal spring all the way. make sure there is at least 1/4 inch of play at minimum left in the seal until totally collapsed.

If you need a new seal TIGE is out of inventory on them. I am going to stock them. Contact me I can get one to you if it leaks after you have done this.

Below is a photo of the new and improved seal. You have to plumb water from your sea water to it but you don't want a lot of water pressure on it. The other thing you can do is run the vent hose to a outside vent on the boat. This is to lube the seal and create more pressure and make an even tighter seal. It is about twice the cost but PYI the only manufacture of the seal is not selling the older version any more. It has been removed from the market. I am sure TIGE is going to start using this one since there inventory ran out unless they have some sort of contract with PYI to keep supplying the older version. You can buy it direct from PYI but you will pay full retail price. As said I can help you with this though so you don't pay full retail price. They part number is 02-118-134 I think. I don't have my notes from home to check that I am sure that is the part number though. I will post it up with a new one if it is not correct when I return home Friday night or Saturday morning.
