Lost gas cap '08 Tige' Z1

Looking for any input or help for a dumb Z1 owner - me!! I lost my chrome gas cap off my '08 Z1. My dealer ordered a replacement from Tige and they sent us a replacement, however it is slightly different then the original requiring us to also replace the entire thing on the hull. Not so easy as it seems. Went to do it and one of the screws is bolted, very hard to get to and bent pretty badly to boot. All I need is the cap! The chain is in tact and if I can find just the cap the job would be a snap. Any one know where I can find what they used on the 2008 Z1? All is says on the part on the hull is EMI?? Can someone help a dummy who forgot to screw on his cap? Thanks.

That is strange that the gas cap they sent you does not fit.
I would be calling Tige headquarters and finding out how to remedy this situation.
Are you sure your dealer did not order the wrong cap?

I don't believe he ordered the wrong cap. When he went to them to just get the cap they told us we had to buy the entire gas cap fill assembly. No problem, I figured I'd pull the cap from that and replace just it and have to go through replacing the entire assembly as well. Unfortunately the cap is slightly different and did not fit into the assembly already in the hull. When I went to replace the assembly I realized what a nightmare and figured I'd just try to find the correct cap. Boat is only a year old so I figured we could find it. Like I said all it says on the original assembly on the hull is "EMI" When we went back to them (Tige) again....all they said was this is the gas cap fill assembly with gas cap that they stock. I don't need the entire fill assembly, just the gas cap they put on the '08 Z1! Thanks for your help!

Post a pic of it and maybe someone on here will recognize it. Most of the parts that go into the Tige boats are made by someone else.

You should go ahead and just upgrade to an 09

do you have a boatersworld or west marine around you? I would go there to see if you can find one that will fit for now. then mess w/the replacement after the summer

Yeah, anytime my boat goes in for repairs they always call me with the bad news: it can't be fixed and I just need a new boat. Lately, I've either sent my wife in there so they can work on her or my 14 year old son, who can haggle with the best of them. It was funny watching the sales guy trying to outwit my son, who insisted my boat was super valuable because of the subwoofer I had installed...LOL.

On the bright side, it might get him a summer job in the the Pro shop one of these days. Whenever he's in there, he's always selling stuff to the other customers

EMI is an abreviation for Eddie Marine. You can find them at eddiemarine.com

Do the classy thing, and stuff an old pair of tighty whiteys into the filler hole. Make sure you can read the waiste band too... Like BVD or Hanes.

I had to make due with something like this on a camping trip with my old sea ray. I couldn't bring myself to take a picture of the boat with the makeshift filler cap anchored in the glassy water.

As requested here is a picture - somebody mentioned that EMI stands for Ed's Marine, Inc. Not sure if that is the case. Thanks for the help, in the meantime the tightie whities will have to do
