    Speedset issue

How close to the set speed should Speedset be able to hold? We were surfing at 12mph and it would very +- 1.5 MPH. Also while I was surfing I asked driver to hit speedset down once, the boat slowed almost putting me in the back seat then took off. Another time when I was driving the Speedset had gone from a set speed of 11.5 and reseted itself for 50MPH.

Speedset has always been flawless till now.

First off, make sure the throttle is all the way down (WOT) when the Speed Set engaged. Are you actually feeling the surge, or just see some fluctuation in the gauge between the "set" speed and the "actual" speeds? At 11mph, a 1.5 mph fluctuation would be pretty noticeable as it's about a 10% variance.

I only felt the surge the one time while the driver was adjusting the down button one click when the boat slowed almost threw me into the boat then surged forward. A Seperate issue, I notice the speed fluctuation in the digital readout when driving not that big of a deal just curious.

I am just trying to see if I have a safety issue that needs to be looked at the biggest isues once again is this

      1. Should pressing the down button once on the speedset slow the boat that drastically?
      2. Why would the speedset adjust from 11.5 to 50 on its own?
      3. Why if the speedset is set for a current speed of 11.5 then hit wot and the boat throttles past 11.5 and shows a set speed of 0mph?

I had this problem on my Z1 before.

I believe it is low voltage on the battery. The way the Electronic isolator works that Tige uses only uses one battery to run the boats electronics at all times. I had to recharge that a couple times last summer when this issue started happening with me. Some days it was run the speed set with the radio off because there was just not enough juice.

If thats the case I may have to go to a third battery. Never had any of these issues last year.

Seems weird to me. It sounds like there's a charging issue if you have to recharge your starter battery. Maybe you have a ground loose somewhere?

Didnt you add your own dual battery setup with a Blu Sea ACR? May have been someone else?

Its not the starter battery thats weak, it was the other deep cycle. The starter only got used when cranking the boat so it never got low.

If the EIDB is wired correctly and all connections are good, clean, and tight (sounds like my 1st GF ) then the Iso will not actually be the cause, it's the load in general. With that being said, the .7 voltage drop across the Diode Iso can contribute to the symptom, as it will take the alt longer to replenish the battery due to the reduce voltage caused by the Iso. In most cases, that .7 voltage drop will never bother a system, because the typical off-idle charge leval of an alt is more then .7 volts above what is considered a fully charged battery.

Not me. I added a pro Mariner 12 on-board charger. The batteries were fully charged last time out. I have added a new amp this weekend so I will try again this week and see if the issue is still there maybe it will be worse with the added amp.
