    Truman Lake, Missouri

I will be taking my son-in-law's family wakeboarding on Truman Lake outside of Kansas City in a few weeks. I have never been to that lake and I am looking for recommendations of coves or arms of the lake to board.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Truman is a resevoir, they flooded a bunch of farmland to make it. It has a lot of trees that are just below the surface, be careful!!! If it's up, prolly won't be a big deal.

I've fished on her, but never been up there to board. I'll ask around for
    The best places though.

You won't be riding in any coves unless you don't like your tracking fins, prop and rudder cause they will get torn off by a submerged tree. You are going to have to ride main lake and find a spot out of the wind.

Well, I can't cancel so I'll just have to hope for no wind and that the ice holds out.

        Thanks.

Never boated on Truman, but have heard lots of tree stories. Can you do the boating over on BlueSprings Lake or Longview, or farther east on Lake of the Ozarks?

For Truman, It would be cool if you could be out in the big pool outside of Osceola/H.Roe Bartle. Any tribemen out here TigeOwners?

Maybe even farther southeast to Tablerock or Bullshoals. Both are resevoir lakes but knock on wood we have never hit a stump, floating log etc. Bullshoals is great for boarding. Find a cove away from the damn area and you will find nice clear boarding water for miles on end.

Bull shoals is by far the best watersports lake anywhere. You can litterally ride for hours without hitting another boat wake. It's awesome. But it's kind of in the middle of nowhere.

                Thanks for the responses.

I'm committed to Truman Lake for this one weekend. My son-in-law has called the area marinas and the best (good?) wakeboarding is down near Osage Bluff. You all are right about trees in the arms and coves, so we will try some wind protected shore line.

We went to Smithville last year but maybe for a quick ski day near KC we can try Blue Springs or Longview next year. I try to stay away from Lake O due to the heavy water traffic.

After Truman Lake on Saturday, my daughter her husband and the boat owner will be heading to Bull Shoals for some serious boarding. Tequilasun: You are correct, that is the all time best lake in the Midwest, but don't let anyone else know that secret. We usually are at Buck Creek, but Gulley Spring Creek / Oakland Marina are excellent also.

                  Quick up date:

We had marginal water in the cove just north of the Osage Bluff camping area. At least we got everyone on the water and had fun.

The following week at Bull Shoals was good. Cool weather and 1.5 days of rain put a damper on it.

Oh, and my son in law popped his ear drum during a slalom fall. He had ear plugs in to prevent this (re)occurance, but the first roll removed the plug and the second roll did him in. 6 weeks of no water to let it heal. This season I started wearing a helmet w/ ear protection due to my attempts at back rolls. It seems to save some of the pain of crashes......and no ear problems.

                  Thanks for the responses.
