    Canyon Lake Info

I am planning a trip down to Canyon Lake near San Antonio Fathers Day weekend. I have never been to the lake before. Does anyone have any recommendations? How is the lake? Is there places I need to worry about stumps or anything? Tahnks everyone. This is the greatest website in the world. Have a great summer everyone.

    Canyon Lake

OK well, Canyon Lake is my home lake and I have good new and bad news. Bad news is, the water level is lowest in history and there are 2 ramps open on the whole lake.

The good news is, there is still plenty of water You just need to know where to go. This lake was originally a river, so in the channel there is still 100' plus of water

You will need to put in at Canyon Lake Marina on the the north side of the lake. At the marina you can buy a map for $8 that will show the levels of the lake (Buy one, it's a cheap investment for the comfort of knowing your not going to bottom out.

As long as you stay away from the shore you'll be fine. I am there every weekend and we have not had a problem.

Water temp is 81 right now

When you put in cruise over to the Damn, you'll get some nice water to wakeboard or surf. Straight across the lake (from CL Marina) is the party cove, if you want to hang out and swim this is a good place.

Let me know when your coming down and maybe we get get a meetup going, not to many Tiges on Canyon Lake, but there are a few. It would be great to get everyone tied up and get some good pictures.

Since you live in SA... I am going to Medina in a week and was wandering what the water level is like there. I was just at Travis and it is as low as Canyon. Unbelievable

      Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the help. I will be out there Saturday and Sunday on Father's Day Weekend. It would be awesome to meet up. I will keep my eye out for Tige's on the lake. I heard there are some good cove's over by the Dam. Is it deep over there? Thanks again. I look forward to meeting up.

My recollection of Canyon from the '80s was that there was very little smooth water, even in the coves. The lake gets a lot of wind and the sailboats love it. But smooth water after 10:00 in the morning just did not happen.

I have also seen Canyon Lake so full that all the parks and ramps were closed and they were spilling water into the Quadalupe River as fast as they could.
