    Z1 Fuel Filter

Ok, I know it is not time for me to change out my fuel filter, but I would like to know where it is at and what to look for. It is not as obvious as I would have expected. Any help from you mechanics on what I am looking for and how to remove and replace the filter. I have read it should be a paper filter not canister style unless newer boats have changed.
    Thanks

Its the ? on the right in pic #2.

Place a catch pan under the filter housing, remove the 2 hoses on the bottom. Grip the chit out of the bottom portion and twist. It's tight as hell, but that's where it is.

Forgive me for questioning, if that is the fuel filter, I do not see how anything is intended to come loose from the bottom. It looks like 2 electrical wires at the bottom. I do not see what spins loose or am I looking at the wrong picture? Maybe I will leave it to the dealer. Thanks

Ok, thanks CHPTHRIL. I feel better now. At how many hours should this be replaced?
          Thanks

If anyone knows the Marine Power number, I may be able to x it.

A good thread to add to my thread that identifies the fuel filter removed. It appears the canister unscrews from the bottom once the 2 hoses are removed.

I have a new filter to install that I got from the dealer and the number printed on the top of the filter is: R58011-10 3005 10 MICRON. Maybe this will help.
I don't want to go to work, take me wake surfing instead!

Im a little confused on which part to unscrew off the fuel filter? Is it part "A", or unscrew the hose clamp on part "B"?

Also I am wanting to purchase this fuel filter, I assume this would work? http://www.michiganmotorz.com/gforce...ter-p-384.html

                      Thanks

                        Matt,

It's the bolt directly to the right of A in your photo. One hose is a cold water feed, and the other is a return line. The whole contraption unbolts from the canister and just hangs there on the hoses.

The michigan motors part is the correct one. Don't pull the canister until you have the spare in hand, as the gasket (big black rubber band thingy.) stretches once you twist off the canister. My filter was very stubborn to get out of the canister once I had the canister separated from the fuel side. It took a good deal of pulling on the old filter with the canister snugged into a vice before it came out.

this may be a stupid question but isnt that the fuel water separator and the boats also have a fuel filter coming from the tank? i know on mine if you pull the hach under the back seat where u see the trany and v drive is where i saw my fuel filter going from the tank.. im not a mac and only have just a general knowledge of engine maintenance. so im always looking to learn more

I'm guessing your 09 has an engine by PCM, where as the above setup is Marine Power. If so, yours could have a pre-filter then the filter/H2o separator. It also may have a low pressure and high pressure pump.
