Please confirm I have this correct before I attempt this tomorrow. Flicking between the two threads this is how I see the fuel filter replacement working, correct me if I'm wrong.
a. Unscrew the bolt which appears to hold a plate at the bottom of the fuel canister. the plate has two water hoses attached to them. This plate "should" come off easily from the canister.
b. Unscrew the canister which contains the fuel filter.
c. Replace the O-Ring
d. Replace the fuel filter
e. Screw the canister back on. (Do I need to add anything to the threads to prevent corrosion?
f. Attached plate with the two water hoses.
g. Turn battery isolator back on.
h. Start boat.Every Day POETS day - Piss Off Early, Today we Ski

Thanks Dom and Others.
I followed your advice Dom and removed the hoses. It was quite a simple job. I did not have to remove the whole fuel filter from the boat. I just unscrewed the canister with a strap wrench. Glad I did change the filter, there was probably a little finger nail of debris in the bottom of the canister.
Now all I have to do is finish re-building the raw water pump buy fitting new bearings and reassembling, then fitting to boat. This to has been a quite easy project.
I did also check the fuel/vent surge protector and pulled it off to inspect it. I checked it by blowing through it. Is it suppose to retard if you blow hard? When I blew at a medium level the flow was not restricted, but blowing harder the valve seemed to close and retard the flow. Anyway, I gave it a clean and fitted it back to the boat. I also had to redirect the hose as when I was fitting the cover that goes over the fuel tank, I noticed it sat on top of the hose. This was perhaps the real reason why I too was getting gas showers.
I will refuel this week and see if it has made a difference.Every Day POETS day - Piss Off Early, Today we Ski
