So we get home to SE Aurora from boating up North East all weekend and it was a beautiful day. We had our boat outside and figured we'd leave it out to dry before taking it to the storage unit. Didn't expect rain at all. I get out of the shower and ask my wife why the heck it was so dark outside. We look out and see a very dark and massive low cloud. So we run out and put the boat cover on and headed West to get to our unit. We get caught in a hail storm and I managed to hide out under a bridge near cherry creek lake until the hail stopped. We get the boat in the unit at parker and arapahoe (which was dry as a bone) and head home to check the news. There are clear photos of a tornado from each major intersection we drove through. The tornado first touched at buckely AFB which is a few miles North of us and went South to the Southlands mall which is ~8 miles South of us. Crazy, we have been meaning to head down there to buy groceries all day. Blew out store windows and flipped cars over.
There was a massive line of people trying to get out of cherry creek. That lake would have been very busy and I cant imagine trying to load my boat in the hail.
