Drove my boat around a tornado

So we get home to SE Aurora from boating up North East all weekend and it was a beautiful day. We had our boat outside and figured we'd leave it out to dry before taking it to the storage unit. Didn't expect rain at all. I get out of the shower and ask my wife why the heck it was so dark outside. We look out and see a very dark and massive low cloud. So we run out and put the boat cover on and headed West to get to our unit. We get caught in a hail storm and I managed to hide out under a bridge near cherry creek lake until the hail stopped. We get the boat in the unit at parker and arapahoe (which was dry as a bone) and head home to check the news. There are clear photos of a tornado from each major intersection we drove through. The tornado first touched at buckely AFB which is a few miles North of us and went South to the Southlands mall which is ~8 miles South of us. Crazy, we have been meaning to head down there to buy groceries all day. Blew out store windows and flipped cars over.

There was a massive line of people trying to get out of cherry creek. That lake would have been very busy and I cant imagine trying to load my boat in the hail.

Wow, always been worried about that here in OK. Glad ur ok.

I had a tornado actually hit my storage facility that I keep my boat in. It hit the other side of the facility and missed my boat by about 70 yards somehow.

We had a waterspout on my lake a couple of years go...that was scary. Then we had an F0 tornado go right up my yard in between my house and my neighbor's house...it is scary.

            Spooky for sure.
We were driving back on the freeway in Idaho from Yellowstone last year and got in what looked like a dark black twister that dumbed marble sized hail on us. It was really knarley and scared my wife. Everyone slowed down and pulled off to the emergengy lane and stopped. I was waiting for our windshield to crack it was coming down so hard.
When it was all over I drove off and there was a guy with an 08 Corvette that was still in the emergency lane, he was probably crying from what he went through.
I had our camper on and it saved our roof but the hood now has about fourteen nice little dings in it.
I had to replace the plastic cover over the bathroom because there was a two inch hole in it.

              Glad you are ok!

We had a funnel cloud up here in Thornton and got stuck in JC Penney's as it was right over the top of us! My 9 Year old daughter was freaking out as were a lot of people since we weren't sure if it was going to touch down or not.

My dad snapped the following pic just a few miles away from where we were. In the pic, we are seriously right under this mofo!

Wow, I'd take an earthquake any day over a tornado. Glad to hear that everything was okay.

I'm glad you made it there and back ok. We saw the tornado from Parker, and some of our neighbors were at the Chinese Theaters at Arapahoe, and Parker during it. They wouldn't let them out.

Where do you keep your boat over there?

We had a funnel cloud here in Norther Nevada just a few day ago. It was up in some hills so nobody was sure if it was an actual tornado.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

There were a total of 5 tornado's in the Denver metro area yesterday and only 1 injury! That's pretty awesome! Almost all of the damage was done by the one that Diesel drove around! Man did he get lucky he wasn't hurt! I certainly wouldn't be towing a boat anywhere near the vicinity of a tornado!

Wow. Now I feel really bad about grumbling about thunderstorms this weekend in StL. Nothing near as bad as what you folks got.

Glad everyone is safe and unhurt. Scary stuff.

The tornado went by very close to my brother's home in southeast Aurora. Flipped over their huge wooden swing set and blew chairs all over. A ton of hail, his yard looked like it had snowed!
