Very painful to watch, I thought the van was trying to get up the hill.

I don't know about you, but it looks to me like the railer tires are barely in the water. It doesn't look like the van tires ever touch the water. I think the boat weight was entirely resting on the trailer. Notice when they back up it starts to come off? That's what I think happened. I can't believe the guy taping it wasn't laughing his a$$ off the whole time.

ok, so pushing a truck up the ramp with a boat isn't such a bad idea now is it! LOL

                      That was really funny!

On a related note. I was heading back to the ramp after a day on Lake Austin. I come by this boat load of young adults in a brand new MC X-Star. It's been washed ashore into some sand. When I got there, it was so far up on shore, the swim platform had to be a good foot out of the water. There's two of them on a Jet Ski trying to pull the X-Star back into the water. They've got a rather short line attached to one of the lift rings on the one side and they're starting to take running starts. I thought about helping, but decided to just watch in case anyone got injured. Definitely Darwin Award material. They did get the X-Star back into the water. Not sure whose boat it was, but I was cringing the entire time I was watching this.

Ok, so another one. A buddy and I are headed back in from an all night fishing trip. We motor up to the dock so he can hop off the boat and get his truck. We are chatting a bit before he goes up the hill. And this dude, just as casual as he can be comes strolling down the hill.

Stops and talks to us about how we did, makes a couple comments about the lake and then casually mentions that we should try and use the left side of the ramp. My buddy says " I usually hit the right side of this one, it's a little less steep, and there isn't a drop off"

The dude says just as calmly as he can, like he's sitting on yw front porch talkin' bout the weather.

"I think you should use the left, I don't want you to ding your prop on the cab of my truck"

So then we look, and sure enough, in about 10 feet of water, sunk all the way down us this dudes truck!

No boat around anywhere! We kind of chuckle, and offer to pull it out with my buddies truck, and the guy says "nope earls wrecker got me out last year, he's on his way"

The dude sunk his truck 2 years in a row on the same damn ramp! Apparently from his attitude, that was the appropriate way to launch a boat!

Oh, and he sent his buddy and son out in his boat to go fishing while earl got there.

                            Another Story

We, along with about 22 other people, go camping on an island in the middle of Watts Bar Lake each year. We launch at Blue Springs boat ramp. We launch, lock the vehicles and are gone for three days and two nights.

We return to the ramp and notice something odd. I had not remembered the ramp being that shallow before as there is some guy only waist deep about 25 feet from the shore. Then I notice the wrecker on the shore with a cable leading into the water. Soon a diver appears and gets out of the water. The wrecker starts winching and out comes the truck with the fellow that I thourght was in shallow water standing on the top of his truck.

His wife was backing the truck down. He said something to her and she could not hear so she got out of truck to hear better. She, however, did not set the brake or put the truck in park and down it went.

It was an older truck and he was not too upset. He said he would change the oil, change the gas, run it for a couple of hours, leave the windows open in the sun, and it would all be good.

Of course both he and his wife only had three teeth total between them.

I saw a new one this evening... I'm pulled up to the top of the landing and was taking off the rear straps. I look up as a car drives by me and abruptly takes a sharp left and drives straight down the ramp, into the river. The lady never even hit the brakes until her front tires were in the drink. She came to a stop w/ the front of her hood under water and her door sill at the waterline. She tried to back up but the engine died and she rolled in farther. One onlooker pulled his truck up to pull her out. I launched my boat right next to her and she never looked away from her lap. I had a camera in the boat and everything and didn't get a picture. Damn.

Maybe she was following her Tom-Tom and it said "Turn Left Now".
The luck is gone, the brain is shot, but the liquor we still got.
