If you are going to claim this on your insurance, I would take it to the dealer and have them give you an estimate. What you don't want to do is find out later that you have additional damage and then find out that your original claim was settled and now you have a new one.

I just had to pay $500 to replace my shaft because my dealer missed the bent shaft last fall (after replacing the prop and the strut)...ooops. I even told them about the excessive vibration on a follow-up visit twice. I was kinda torqued about the whole thing.

Thank you to Stateamind Watersports. They were extremely fast at getting my boat repaired so I can get back on the water. I am going to try to keep from tearing it up the rest of the summer. Also Boat U.S. was excellent at handeling my claim.

that prop doesnt look too bad.. getting it repaired would cost about half as much as getting a new prop

Sorry to hear of your damage. Sounds like you will be back up and running shortly.

I did not ding my prop but I did recently manage to nearly rip off a board rack pulling into a tight slip on the third weekend I had the boat in the water. Tower needs to be redrilled and helicoiled to fix.

So I empathize with your feeling "sick" about the whole event. Tough stuff. For me, kind words on these forums, like those above, did a lot to get me past repeatably kicking myself (ok, I still do but not as much).
