    2008 22ve or 2007 RZ2

I'm new at this posting thing, but need ya'll's help! My two wakeboarding sons and my Tige lovin' husband are trying to decide between 2 boats as we are upgrading from our 2000 21i that we have really enjoyed. Both boats are beautiful (important to moms!) and price is comparable, so really the factors are more about performance, styling, etc.

One is a brand new 2008 22ve, the other is a 2007 RZ2, basically new, but a demo with 55 hrs. Boys are wakeboarders, so is one boat better than the other from that standpoint? Also, does one stay drier in rough water than the other? And, lastly...is the RZ2 "significantly" roomier for passengers? Oh, yeah, RZ2 has fiberglass platform, but 22ve has teak - thoughts on that? THANK YOU!

    Tough choice on that one.

The RZ2 (IMO and I am sure Chpthril will disagree ) will maneuver better The reason is that the Convex Hull has more of a rocker on the RZ2 than the 22Ve. The RZ2 will throw a wake similar to a 24Ve at stock.

I went from a 24Ve to an RZ2 and don't see a difference in space between the two boats other than the RZ2 is a little wider on the top however, both had the same beam length.

If you are into wakesurfing, the 22Ve would be your better bet unless you want to purchase a new platform for the RZ2. The platform on the RZ2 cuts into the wake more than the 22Ve's platform.

rushin (another member on this board) had an "i" series boat and went to the RZ2 and loves his RZ2 BTW.

      Here is my

Pictures?? Does the RZ have ballast?

RZ2 will be "significantly" roomier if you use the bow frequently.

If you surf, the 22Ve will be better because of the swim platform issue on the RZ. However, this can be fixed by replacing the platform.

Equally weighted, both boats are equally dry. If either has 250+ lbs in the bow, both can dunk the bow, just like every othr wakeboard boat.

I think it will mostly come down to looks, since both perform very similar. If it were me, I would go 22Ve.

If it were me and it was between an 22ve and the RZ2 I would 100% go with the RZ2.

I would go with the RZ2. I was just out on my buddies brand new 2008 22Ve last weekend and found that I like my RZ2 a whole lot better! One of the main things is the cooler placement on the Ve, it's on the port side on the Ve and interrupts the storage "flow". On the RZ2, the cooler is on the starboard side right behind the driver and leaves the port side open for storage all the way from bow to stern. The larger bow on the RZ is really nice as well, I just felt cramped in the bow

Both are great boats but I am glad that I went for the RZ2 over the 22Ve

I would go with RZ2... and I did

A fully loaded 22ve was just a couple k less than the fully loaded RZ2. I personally did not like the front seating area in the 22ve. The RZ2 has alot more room up there. I also like the way the RZ2 looks better than the 22ve.

If you are into surfing, you should definitely upgrade the platform. If you are getting this from a dealer, see if they will throw the 2009 platform in as part of the deal.
If its not fun, Why do it?

Yes, i had a 22i and had come to the same chioce when it came time to buy, a 22ve or RZ2. And yes we went with the RZ because I liked that it had a ballast system in it as the ve did not. We also liked the fact that the bow was wider and I got to admit it the RZ just looks cool.

Options on the two that you are looking at may come into play for the decesion. Options that are more important.

But I would recommend the RZ2.

                thx...and more info

You guys are awesome. Thanks for the feedback. A bit of updated info. Have found out now that the 08 22ve is with FULL warranty, not so for the 07 RZ2 which has (50ish) hours on it. Also, the RZ2 will require that we modify our boat slip to allow for the pickle fork. Not a huge job, but not free! Since the votes are weighing heavily toward the RZ2, the new question is whether it is THAT much better. Oh, yeah, NEITHER have factory ballast.
                THANK YOU!

To be honest both are great boats, you will be happy no matter what. If you guys are leaning toward the RZ2 then go for it.

I truly feel that in the 22ft range the RZ2 is the way to go.

                    1. Better maneuvering
                    2. Better flowing storage space
                    3. The RZ2 has a wake similar to a 24Ve
                    4. Alot of options on the 22Ve are Standard Options on the RZ2
                    5. Can fit more people in the RZ2 (okay, one more but that does count )
                    6. RZ2 is bigger on the insides than the 22Ve
                    7. RZ2 is sexy

I do believe that if the dealer is selling the RZ as a demo then a full warranty is required or should be offered.

                      Maybe, anyone know?

There is a hour reading that the dealer can't sell the boat as new for warranty issues from what I understand. Chpthril should know what the hour reading is.

All boat have an hr reading......

If the boat has #'s then they can't sell it with the full warranty.

A Demo boat can have 200hr and never have #'s and will come with full warranty.

Yes but not every boat will have hours put on them. I am sure there are some boat manufacturers that don't test their boats. However, towboats will have the hours put on for testing. fishing boats could be a different story.

There was someone that posted on here that was getting a demo boat but couldn't get the full warranty. I have to go search for it... BRB
