Silver box connected to my battery

When I got my 07 22V from the dealer...he pretty much just dropped it off at my house and was like...here ya go. So I never got a rundown on everything.
Needless to say...there is a box connected to my batteries (stock cranking and deep cycle) that I have no frign clue to what it does. There are 3 terminals coming off it and leading to the batteries and I think the switches.
Can someone tell me the point of it, and I have 2 switches also. Whats the point of the 2 switches connecting to my batteries.

I assume it is not a perko switch?
    A pic might be helpful.

I dont know what brand it is, but its not a dual position switch. I have 2 of these switches..and both of them are 1 position (on and off).

Its a dual battery bank isolator. It allows the alt to charge both batteries while engine is running, but separates them when engine is off.

So leave both switches on..and I dont have to worry about running down my starter battery? why have 2 switches then?

          chpthril,
I changed my settings. I should be able to recieve messages now. sorry.

Hard so what position to leave what switch as that is not the factory setup. Tige uses an ON/OFF master switch.

Pics would be great, may even need to trace each wire from the switches to their end to see where they go and what they hook to.

Ive got a pic of my switches..this is how it came when they dropped it off. I pulled both bats out at the end of the season and just hooked them back up...I have 2 leads coming out of the bottom switch..one goes to the starter, other goes to the starting battery. The top one has 2 leads, one goes to this circuit breaker thing mounted just above the batteries, and the other one goes to the deepcycle.
It doesnt make much sense to be continously going into the rear hatch and turning a dial..but it also doesnt make sense why I have 2 main switches.
On a side note question. at idle speed..whats your alt gauge running at? mine is at 11v seems low and I charged both batteries fully.

              Thanks

Now that is wierd. You have not one, but TWO perko switches. I have never seen that before. Sorry I am not smart enough to figure why they wired it up that way.

11V does seem too low. I would wonder if the alternator is on the outs, or at least the guage is. Does it go up with increasing RPM's?

I found out my cells were running real low...so I added water to them (all of them)...I mean real low too. so its looking like my batteries did get that good of a charge.
but yea...I guess I got lucky with 2.

I cant begin to understand why the dealer (or whoever did it for them) has it wired that way The top switch definitely looks like the factory style ON/OFF but the bottom looks like it may be a 1/2/BOTH/OFF switch, is it or is it an ON/OFF as well?

The low gauge reading would be a 2nd'ary concern for me, I would take a volt meter and make my own checks. With the engine running, check the alt output at each battery. If the charge output is good there, then move to the power buss under the helm. If the batteries where low on water, they will not take a full charge. Topping them off and giving them a full charge should fix the low gauge reading (providing the alt is good and the iso and batteries are hooked up correctly.
