If the tap is in the engine block, try to bust it out. That's about all you can do. If it's in something you can remove, take it to an EDM shop. If they have a sinker EDM they can burn it out.

The left handed drill bits work great on bolts, but the tap will be too hard to drill into. No matter how expensive of a drill bit you use.

Some pics would help. I've broke my fair share of taps and bolts in holes, that's probably why I have two different sets of Snap On easy outs.

Wouldn't want to heat it. As metal expands with heat. Most of your good extractor sets will have reverse drilling bits which will help you out.

This is my nightmare.
Exactly why I pay the duckets to have it done.
I bought a 1983 mazda RX7 from my sister in 1988 and changed the oil once. The second time I went to change it I unscrewed the filler cap and a piece of the cap broke off and dropped into the engine. I could see it down deep and thought, "hey I can fish it out with some chopsticks". When I tried that, one of the damn sticks slid down into the engine.
Game over. I had to have it towed to the shop and removed. I felt like an $ss telling the shop what happened. I don't remember what the bill was but I am sure I could have had a lot of oil changes for the price.
On the same RX7 my 115lb. girlfriend punched the windshield from the inside when she got pissed at me and cracked it. I learned from that lesson that you gotta listen to your woman.

Depending how it broke in the hole you can take a nut and weld it to the tap and then take a wrench and spin it out. once you get a good weld on it you can usally get it out.
Make sure you are useing the right tap for the hole you are taping. diffrent type of flukes are for different types of holes.
