Is multiflex tubing very durable?

I am going to be building a semi-automatic ballast system, similar to the one in this thread http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5610 but I am wiring my pumps to the dash. I have been trying to figure out which tubing to go with, and am thinking about going with multiflex. I looked at a sample at the local West Marine, and it seems kinda thin. I know several of you have used it, so I thought I would ping the group to get some feedback on how durable it is, and if it's something I can keep pulling out of the boat all of the time.

I would say that is the best tubing to use in your application because of the fact you will be moving the pumps in and out every time.

I used it in our 22i and loved it. Nice and flexible so it works good in tight spots when you need it to.

I agree with you there, I'm just worried about the in and out, and in and out may cause it to tear. It seems awful thin.

I'm going to build one in (pump, tube and wiring) and keep it under a bow seat, that way I can throw a ballast in the walkway and fill it up real quick. This one will probably see the most damage, going in and out of the small storage area.

If it's the same multiflex I have it's very durable. It seems like it would be very difficult to tear even after bending it over and over.

I am guessing 30 feet (which is probably overkill). I was going to buy a box of 50 feet from boatfix for $58ish.

No worries on the Multi-Flex. Kinking is the one thing to watch for in a ballast system and the coil-reinforced Multi-Flex should not kink.

xpjim1 - no worries. I had already ordered a box of it.

- I received an email this morning from West Marine, saying my pumps havn't shipped yet, due to the fact Attwood has run into a quality issue with their new pumps. I am both bummed that they arn't on their way yet, and worried that I may end up with some below par pumps.
