Chpthril - Son 1/2 way thru college, no ballast in my 22Ve. What do I need for wakeboarding and surfing? Looking at an upgrade for next summer. Please advise.

Since your close your welcome to check my ballast system out when spring comes. I have the 1000lb surf sacs but I wouldnt be much help with the wakeboard advice.

Might take you up on it majestic. Is your configuration doing the trick for surfing?
It sure does do the trick for surfing. I am constantly playing with the set-up but there is really no need it has a great wake with the 1000lb sack and a couple of people.
As soon as the spring arrives I would love to show you the wake and the system (will be all automated by then). It would be great to pay it forward after all the help I had (mostly Chpthril).

Building a ballast system that specifically does each well, is easy. Building one that does both well, is a challenge.
Are you looking to have a plumbed-in automated system or fill manually?
I'm assuming your wake-board riders are ready to ride a ballasted wake?
Which is the primary focus, surfing or boarding?
Do you have both regular and dark-side riders?

Are you looking to have a plumbed-in automated system or fill manually? Plumbed as first thought. But manual ok.
I'm assuming your wake-board riders are ready to ride a ballasted wake? Son is in to front flips, 180s, 24mph, long rope, fully clearing wake no problem.
Which is the primary focus, surfing or boarding? Good question. Young adults/college age: both, but tendancy to wakeboard as priority. Us older types, kinda moved to surfing only.
Do you have both regular and dark-side riders? Yep. Son is right foot forward. The rest of us are left foot forward.

I'm assuming your wake-board riders are ready to ride a ballasted wake? Son is in to front flips, 180s, 24mph, long rope, fully clearing wake no problem. So you will definitely want a complete ballast system that will allow for boarding and surfing.

Do you have both regular and dark-side riders? Yep. Son is right foot forward. The rest of us are left foot forward. Ideally then, you will want a system that will allow you to switch surfing sides without having to drain, move sacs and refill.
I'll work up some options and email them to ya.

All...tried to take a couple of shots of the new wake. Not spectacular but shows the surf wake behind our 2010 RZ2 w/Mike's custom sac full in the port side rear of the boat. This is big sac not just the cube. Speed at 9.8 with no weight up front. Only two people in the boat.
Fill time is not bad at all (about 7-8 minutes). Let me know if you have any questions.

Looks nice! Taps setting?
Consider speeding up to 12-13 mph and adding bow weight to lengthen the pocket. We use more Taps (~3-5) when there are few people in the boat and less (~1-3) when there are more people (ie, more weight) in the boat.
