First of all,you can never have to much weight when it comes to surfing,i think your choice on the bags will be awesome, add a few people in the boat as well and the wake will be sinister! The only prob youll run into is lack of floor space in your boat, but oh well its the price we all pay.

ten minutes after I posted that I decided to go with the 4 V-drive sacs. See my problem is that I don't go out with a boat full of people. I used to invent everyone under the sun and go out all the time with a boat full of peeps. but after none of them offered to give me gas money I stopped inviting all but the two that would throw for gas so now our riding crew is just the three of us which I like because I don't have to worry about some jack azz falling out of the boat. that and I wouldn't trust just any one to drive my boat. Because I lack the boat full of people I figured that just adding the extra weight via fat sac is what I am going to have to do. Will I when summer gets here and the lake unfreezes I will take pics and let everyone know how I end up setting up the ballast (where and how much weight).

I agree with you on all accounts. My rules are whomever is going out with us meets us at the gas station on the way out, gas and or beer nobody rides for free, works great no complaints yet. He who complains doesnt usually come back. After all you made the investment in the boat.

Yep I saw a sticker on a boat once that said "My boat runs on gas not thanks". Yep I am the one that spent 20,000 Plus on a boat so that we all could have a good times the least you could do is put $10 of gas in it.

Hey I love the signature by the way. that would make a great T-shirt.

Can I ask, w/ this weight in the walk way how do you keep the water from coming over the bow. As a said earlier, I had 2 people in the bow once (both about 400-500#'s) and I would have sunk the boat if I wasn't paying attention. What is the trick not to take water over the bow w/ weight up front?

Nicky, you don't run as much weight - does that make it easier?

This is the driving tip I received personally from Nick Weinacker (Team Tige rider) while we were riding in the '03 22 i/r they were touring the country with at the time. As you come off plane (to pick up your rider), pull the throttle all the way back to the neutral position. Just as the boat drops into the water, turn the wheel all the way to the right/left (right works better on my LH prop) and give it a little bump forward. Then just wait for your wake to pass you by to pick up the rider. If you're in an area where there are lots of boat wakes coming from one side, turn the other way. If you're in an area where boat wakes are everywhere, adjust your TAPS to the highest position and give it enough power to raise the bow so you can plow through the wakes. The older boats, like ours, sit lower in the water, so the problem's even bigger when you run with ballast. Sometimes taking on water is simply unavoidable, but you can take steps to minimize the amount with a little anticipation.

I find myself adjusting my boat position in the water frequently to avoid being swamped.

                      Thanks,

Chp showed me some ways to avoid the wakes also, but when the water has a lot of boats out it gets hard. I can also use your ideas to. Do you stay throttled up until you get back to your rider? I don't like letting the boat settle w/ someone in the water and boats everywhere, it makes me nervous.

It is funny on the road I am very offensive but on the water I am very passive. I will always slow down, don't know why that is. At least my wife doesn't complain, it is funny to watch people in the passengers seat trying to use the brakes!
