    Factory Ballast in a 20V

Does anybody on here have the factory ballast option on a 20V? I'm considering adding it and am curious what it looks like.

IMO, you can get more weigh than the factory ballast in your 20V. IMO, you might want to talk with some members around here about that. I am sure SPBFan and Timmy! might help out with building one for you.

What year boat are you putting it in. Is it an 09 and is it an under the floor system? If not and even if it is we can give you some good direction for the best results with building your own system for sure. I would love to help you build a good system.

Well, I'll describe it to ya: The 20V has to hard tanks in the rear, one in each storage locker. In the front there are to smaller hard tank, one in each storage console. The total weight (as advertised) is 600 lb's. There are 4 fill pumps on a manifold in the bilge fed by a thru-hull in the transom. There are 4 drain pumps, one on each tank that empty through their own thru-hull near the tank, just below the rubrail.

I would definitely recommend going with an aftermarket custom system using soft sacs instead of rigid, you only lose storage when sacs are filled. What weight/size sacs you go with will depend on how you use the boat and what you want to achieve with the ballast. Hopefully some peeps with 20V's can chime in with what sacs they are using, especially for the front/bow.

It's a 2008, I'm now thinking aftermarket (bags) is the way to go, this after getting a quote for the Factory system.

They do charge a lot for that to be put into your boat.

We can most certainly help you build a system. The questions in how much are they charging and what are you getting. This way we can compare apples to apples and see if it really is a benifit for you to do it aftermarket.

Looking at roughly $1800 for the factory system (installed).

That is actually a good price for (for 4 hard tanks and pumps, etc.) the system installed. IMO, for the money, you may come out better with a custom setup using Fly High sacs. This will give you more weight and only loss of storage (not really a problem on a 20V) is when sac filled V's hard tanks eating storage all the time. The trick is to get enough weight in the front!

X2 it will end up costing you about the same maybe a little less plus install time and effort.

I was thinking they were getting like $3000 for a factory system.

Hey 20V lovers. We just got 2 500# v-drive sacs and a 200# fat brick to put in the front or balance loads. I'm excited to see how things are going to shape up with the 2007 20V.

Can anyone recomend a small bow sack (to put under front seats) that will fit in the 20V to balance out the load? It seems like there is only room for 100# or so.

Any experience or suggestions from the tribe out there?

The bow sac is too big you could have a custom sac made by fly-high but it may not be worth the money for the #'s you get.

Lead would work as small as the storage is under those seats vs 100 lbs sac

I think ragboy had some lead pellet bags that were easy to move around and stored pretty flat.

A custom sac is about the only way to go if you want to put the ballast in the under-seat bow storage, but I'm not sure how much weight is would hold lik eG-money said. I'd love to get a quote for you if you want to measure and draw one up!

A Fat Brick in each console storage would be the next best thing to do for hidden water ballast. That's about equal to the factory tanks. If you didnt mind a sac in the walk-way, a W704 (62x16x10, 370lb's) might be a good fit, or the W713 (16x16x42, 400lb's) might work.

I have 2 issues with lead, IF you tow your vehicle; Lead adds to your tow weight (as well as the load on the trailer itself) and tongue weight if placed in the bow. If your boat is stored on a lift, or literally towed around the corner to the ramp, then lead id great.
