    Wakesurfing

We are using a 22V Tige` with the factory ballast. We have a 5'11" hyperlite landlock. I'm 6'6" 215lbs. We have had 3 other 215lb guys on the driver side of the boat (i'm goofy). Plus, the factory ballast in the front (one 150lb on each side), and the rear ballast (300lbs on rider side) and adjusting the TAPs (plate in back that presses down, heard that is the equivelant of 1000lbs) driving at 10-11 mph. The wake height seems to be okay, but we can't seem to be able to ride without the rope. All of us have surfed, snowboarded, and wakeboarded. Any tips on how to set the ballast? Are we too heavy?

Your not to heavy, especially for the landlock. Post some pictures of the wake, or video.

It sounded like you had taps all the way down at 1??? If so you will find a much better wake on the goofy side at 7-8. I am 195 and have no problem staying in on either side with out the rope. Does take some getting used to the size and shape after surfing real waves.
Keep trying you will get it.

        x2 on the TAPS setting.

BTW, I think you're confusing the Tige TAPS system with the Malibu Wedge.

TAPS is a wake shaping device. It works with the rocker shape of the hull.

Also, try slowing down to around 9 MPH. The ridable area won't be as long, but the wake will have more energy to push you forward.

Another thing to try, is move that 300 lbs to the rear, as far back as possible, and use the taps for adjustment. Too much weight up front, will keep the bow down, and wake small and long, which is better when you get better, but not for learning. Weight in back will allow you have a bigger wave, and bring the bow down with taps to taste.

It might not be the wake. I could not ride without a rope until I changed my feet on the board. Now I can ride forever...

Just got back from the river this weekend. I forgot to take a picture of the wake but with the pointers on moving my feet forward and towards the toe side I was able to start riding. Took me a couple minutes but was able to throw the rope in and surf for half a minute or so. Thanks for the help.
