Tsunami handheld pump electrical cord issue

My Tsunami pump (the handheld kind) must have a loose wire, we have to giggle the wire to get it to run. I took it apart last night and all I could get off was the housing over the base of it. I cannot figure out how to get into the top so I can check on the wires and re terminte/fix them. Anyone ever figure this out? Also I am looking at the same pump (I think) for an installed system and it looks like I buy that for $25 and just cut the accessory plug off my existing pump and put the handlheld hoses on this new pump. A new handheld pump is $99!

here is what I have now...

and here is the pump I am thinking I can use in place of this one with a little elbow grease.

of course I have to look closer at my pump to see if I can get the connectors and hose off of it without screwing it up. Anyone have any experience in this area?

push comes to shove, just buy the replacement cartridge and splice the plug to the pigtail.

Dont know about opening one up, never tried

I looked at the pump last night, the hose fitting and connector fitting just screw on, so it looks like I can buy just the pump and screw on the fittings. I am going to call buywake and confirm they are the same size, can't tell from the pic.

your current pump is a 1200. The second pump you listed is an 800. The threads are different sizes. the 1200 is 1 1/8 and the 800 is 3/4
        Let it be!!!

CP3 - Yeah, I got it in the mail yesterday, bought it from Boaters world for 34.95 plus shipping, came to $42 I believe. I am just going to take the housing off my broken one and switch it with the new pump. I have to think about what connectors to use to connect the new pumps wires to the ac plug (is that what you call ot?) I have on my broken one. Some kind of inline splicer that is waterproof I guess? I see a trip to Home Depot in my future. I will let you know how it works out.

I would use the heat shrink butt connectors, They are blue and to play it safe some additional shrink wrap.

I ended up using a standard butt connector and then did a heat shrink rap over each wire and then a larger one over both wires. Seemed to make a solid connection and will keep the water out. Worked great out on the lake Saturday. I do want to take it back apart and solder the wires together and then re heat shrink rap the wires, that is how Attwood did it on my original pump.
