    Heavy ballast and prop selection

I've got an 08 22Ve. When I load up with around 2k lbs of ballast, I get a really good wake. But the boat really struggles to accelerate. I have the standard prop with a 320hp motor. Any suggestions on a prop replacement?

Now let me rephrase that....it picks up speed well, but I can really tell a difference between 900lbs of ballast and 2k. My old Sea Ray 205 with 1400 lbs of ballast was just sad. The pick up on my Tige is very good under load when comparing this with my old boat. But I was thinking a new prop might help some.

A new prop will definately help. I know a bunch of people that have gotten new props. Although I think tiges by far are the quickest planeing boat. Even my 20v with around 2400# planes about as fast as a friends bu with stock ballast. Maybe ur asking for a bit too much. IMO I dont like to take away from crusing speed. Off course we ride on a river if i lived on a lake i wouldnt care if it went slower.

Give them a call, tell them how much weight you run, and they'll set you up right.

you should have an acme 537 and that is what you need. it could be another problem with something else. we have 2000 in my 06 22v and we just but a 4 blade 537 on it and im about to head to the lake right now so ill let you know the outcome. we have the 340 hp. though

If you go to wakeside.com, they have a thing that tells you which prop for how much ballast you have in your boat

If you aren't already, use the taps to help aid you in getting on plane. With that much ballast the boat is a tank. Adjust the trim tab (taps) all of the way down before taking off and then bring back up when you have gotten on plane or to where ever you like to ride. With the trim tab down it assist greatly in getting the boat up and out of the water. I have gotten into the habit of doing it all of the time, ballast or no ballast.
I don't want to go to work, take me wake surfing instead!

              balance the load

The last time I went I noticed a big difference in the launch of the boat. I think it might be due to too much ballast in the back. I had 700 lbs in or near the front of the boat and 1300lbs back in the rear. I'm going to move some of the weight forward a little more, to see if that helps.

I got a new board a couple of weeks ago and the pop is significantly better. Truth be told, with the board I've got, I can back off the ballast a little bit anyway. But I probably won't

Best prop for VE and RZ's with excessive weight is the 14.5"x14.25". The 14x14.25 would work well too.
