    24Ve Ballast Needs

Currently planning to upgrade from a 20V to the 07 24ve. Not that there hasn't been any discussions regarding the 24's and their wake, but will a ballast or sacs be a necessity to produce a generous surf wake? I have a 750# Fly High that I can add to a compartment but taking the storage space is not preferred. Thank you.

hunter, I have found it takes alot of weight to get the 24ve to list over to make a good wave. I run an enzo sac 1500# and 400# fly high bow sac in the front. Then with 6-8 people in the boat, the wave will into the wave of envy.

HunterD, welcome to the site. As bentone has mentioned, it will take a lot of weight to list that beast. bentone has a very good wake but every boat will have a different setup. Just be patient and you will get it.

Have you bought the 07 24Ve yet? Doesn't sound like you have but when you do, post some pictures so we can all see.

Welcom to the site and congrats on the upgrade,

The Enzo sac seems to be a good fit, and the right amount of weight in a 24V/Ve for a sweet surf wake. I've been lucky enough to have surfed behind both Talltigeguy's and Xpjim's 24V's and the wake is great

            Hunter,

I our 24ve we run 750's in the back lockers, and around 300 each side in the front. The boat will list pretty good if you have about 6 people to move around! I wish I would have waited for the Enzo sack though, oh well.

Thank you for the information. As we are still undecided verses a 22, what would be a fair argument for choosing a 24 over a 22, cost not withstanding.

How big is your crew?? The 24 just has a lot of space, seats 8 easily, while 8 in the 22 can be a little crowded. I would go with the 340HP in both, so no difference there. The 22 will take less ballast to get a good wake. It's 2 footitis though, you get the 22 and say man, I wish I had the 24.....at least that's what they say. You are going thru the same upgrade as we did. We had an 04 Switch V (basically 20V) and went to an 06 24ve. The wake of the 20v in my opinion stinks. We loaded our 20V with over 2000lbs and I thought the wake was marginal at best. We have the same amount in the 24ve (2000lbs) and the wake is great. The 24 doesn't porpose at all like our Switch V did.

I have also ridden behind the 22ve, great wake, pretty much identical to the 24ve wakeboard wake. You can get a killer surf wake from the 24ve. Good luck with your decision.

G-Money hit it. Definately a smoother ride in rough water. That made me go with the 24 vs the 22. And I haven't had a space issue yet.

I just down sized and would agree that the rz2 was a little bit bumpier in the water than the 24Ve. But again, I wouldn't bet money on that either... The conditions that I have taken the 24Ve in and so far the RZ2 do not compare... However, I was in 2 foot swells with the 24Ve while today's outing was only 6 inches.
