    BALLAST NOOB!

ok ok ok all this sofisticated talk about ballast..I need to be filled in with all the info regarding ballast tanks drag systems, etc. I mean I know there are lots of people who say," yeah 2000lbs of ballast on mine"..what ever. Im interested in getting some weight on just to add a little more wake but not sure what to go with. It'd be nice if someone just showed a picture of what they have on now I mean if bags filled or empty I dont care and if weights let me see them if you can. Like I said Im interested so please all info will be greatly appreciated. thanks

    P.S.
Please explain in detail and if you have a link to where I can get a full system for my 24V please include the link too. Thanks

Are you looking for a full ballast system installed? Like with pumps/sacs/switches so that it is all done by the flip of a switch? Or are you interested in filling sacs via hose or portable pump before you go out? That will help seek the answers you're looking for.

Bare minimum would be some v drive sacs. Fly high has a set that holds about 400 # per bag. One in each rear locker and then some weight up front, either integrated bow sac that goes under the seats in the bow or a tube sac for the walkway. You can get away with a non automated system by just using a pump with power from the accessory on the dash. Here are some links to my fatsacs. The little one is a v drive sac. Also are 2 posts for automated ballast installs in a 24V

Usually if you dont got big $$ to spend on putting Ballasts in your boat, Just go to a watersports Store and buy fat sacs and a pump... All of it shouldnt be too bad maybe 5-600? For everything.

Ya what he^ said. In our old boat we just through a 1200lb fat sofa in the back to replace the rear seat. bought that and a pump for around $200 and it greatly improved the wake. you could easily load your boat up w/ sacs and pumps for 5-600 bucks.

1200 seems like pleanty to start. Especially for 200$. But then after you add the pumps and all... Better got money in the bank.

Do what the most of us do. Find 2-4 people that are on the heavy side You get your ballast weight you wanted and hopefully some cash for the gas along with a nice cleaning of the boat after your done for the day.

ok,ok,ok people after my very first season of having my boat and me trying what I was interested in trying this year... Ive noticed my main interest right now is Wakeboarding and Wakesurfin. I know its been a while since Ive posted anything on here as I was the one that started it and Im sure there is lots of info I can go on and look for about this particular topic but like someone said before Im too lazy to try to find it.LOL Anyways since those are the two things on my interest list for awhile thats all I want to add weight for and I dont mind filling up the bags manually with a pump as long as I dont have to go throught that nightmare of trying to install a system on my boat by myself, I just dont have the patience for that sorry. Anyone have a basic ballast system that works for just wanting to add some pump to the wake when wakeboarding and when it gets too choopy wakesurf. Thanks peeps

I've said it once and I'll say it again.

PHAT GIRLS!! Love 'em. They certainly aren't good for anything else so you just may as well use 'em for ballast. Dig me some phat girls!

Pretty much what Xpjim said in the 2nd reply.

                        Integrated Bow sac (W711) 650#'s $240
                        Set of Pro X V-drive sacs (W701) 400#'s ea. $200
Pro X series Tsunami pump $99
                        (typical retail prices)

I'd say that would give you a little more pop for boarding and a surfable wake with both 400's on one side.

If he likes to wakesurf, I'd go and get an Fly High Enzo sac or two instead of the V-Drive sacs. You don't have to fill them up all the way for wakeboarding.

I agree. By know means can you beat the enzo sacs for surfing. I wasn't sure, but it sounded like he was looking for an entry level, budget system that would get the job done.

I have the 24Ve, and did the fly high vdrive sacs in lockers and bow sac. You will be surprised how great the wake will get with just the vdrive sacs.

I and others have found, that the bow sac, doesn't help much. I don't put anything in it anymore. I fill the vdrives and just adjust taps.

I would also buy a fat brick, 150lbs with handles to help balance weight and get the wake perfect.

For wake surfing, we just fill the vdrives and throw everyone to one side. If you don't have at least 4 or 5 people in the boat, you may want to get another vdrive and put it right on top of the other sac on the side you are surfing.
