    How much ballast weight?

I know there are some guys around here running ballast systems in their boats. I am trying to figure out about how much weight everyone is running. I will probably install a custom system in my 20v when I get it and want to start planning it all out.

My thoughts were about 1200lbs total. About 450 up front and 750 in the back.

Kinda fill in the blanks so we can see what everyone does. and if you have pictures of your wake with the ballasts filled that would also be great.

    Year/Model/Size:

    Front Ballast Weight:

    Rear Ballast Weight:

    Rope Length:

What kind of sacs/bladders are you running? what model?

Thanks guys. I really want to plan ahead and know that sometime in the next 6 months I will be doing this!

My family used to have a Switch V. We started with the stock ballast, probably about 600 lbs. We ended up weighting the boat with about 400 lbs. in each rear locker, about 150 lbs. in each middle storage compartment and a 550 lb. sac in the walkway. I would say about 1650 lbs. total. The thing you have to do on a 20 V is make sure you have weight up front. You need a 50/50 distribution. I attached a wake pic from our switch V. We were probably running about 23 mph, 75' off, 3 people in the boat + ballast mentioned above.

    Good luck on the install.

I would stay away from solid ballast if you will be using your boat on the ICW since sometimes you will want no ballast to aid in increasing your freeboard to keep from taking waves over the bow, especially when running through Pass-a-Grille on a busy choppy day. I would either do the integrated bow sac and two 380 pound sacs in the v-lockers or two 380 upfront and two 380 in the lockers. I would rather go with the separate front sacs so you have the ability to individually weight each side. Plus you won't be able fill the integrated bow sac to full capacity so you will probably get more in the separate 380lb sacs. This guy on ebay sells factory second fly high sacs for a lot less than new ones are.

To eliminate putting weight in the walkway I was considering addind the 150 lb fat sac cubes in the lockers. I haven't done this yet. I currently have a sub box in one locker so...choices. Also, I would need to install at least 2 drain pumps and hopefully fill with the two existing front sac pumps (basically the over flow method).

contact these guys http://www.gethighsports.net you can order custom sacs. they do size, weight, and color. i've got one of their 750lbs sac w/o a cover on it and trust me they are made very well. i want to say they have a video on the site of them hucking a full one off a 10 foot drop to prove it hahah. i've been thinking about hiding all my ballast especially that 750 laying in the bow so sounds like you are doing the same thing.
