If the gate valves receives power for more than 5 seconds it will trip a breaker if one is installed or burn up the gate valve.

Doesn't momentary mean that it only moves when the switch is pushed on, and the switch then moves back to its normal position when you let go? I think that is why he wants a momentary for the gate valve. You wouldn't want to have to hold the switch to get the ballast pumps to work.

Help me with the proper electrical terms.
        That is correct.

Judging by the previous photos and posts, it appears that the tige has a non returning coil. It opens full....closes full....pressing the button makes a latch, latch is broken once the gate is either open or closed.

Assuming you are talking about the gate that tige uses.....there are gates that have a coil and stay open until the circuit is switched off. I used to model some in 3D.

1.5" thru-hull on the transom running to a manifold holding four pumps to fill the tanks/bag. With the thru-hull you will not need to use a pesky gate valve that will lock up on you at some time. Call Jeff @ the shop and ask him how many he replaced last summer as we used to use them in the past.

If you use a SPDT switch you will not have to run the ground wires from the pumps to the switch, you could use the short wire that is on the pump and attach it to the engine for a ground.

We have two ballast installs going on right now and I could take pictures and makes notes if needed for you guys if needed.

Tigé and Ski Hut do not use the gate valves.

So it works like a power antenna..... motor runs till up or down then contacts open and motor shuts off. If so, then it would not everheat or overrun and pop breaker/fuse?

Cool....where are the photos posted earlier from, is that a Rival system? I thought that was a Tige thing.

                    yes....

BTW there are many brands of lawn sprinkler style gates that you can use to wire straight to your switches. They open while on, and close while off. They are designed to work with a timer.

It is a Rival install that Tall did.

So tige uses one way valves only on the fill line?

Because there is no forced induction while under way right right???? I see said the blind man.

Yeah I mentioned earlier the gate wasn't necessary....I thought it was wierd, siphon pressure in itself will keep the bags from filling if you don't have a ramp forcing the water in.

Now that's what talkin 'bout I want to eliminate that one extra switch or the gate all together.

I missed that somewhere I think Coach said somewhere that his were siphoning out underway though, but a simple checkvalve will stop that and a whole lot less complicated to do........KISS
