Never mind. I called Lenco, gave them the code. They’re brand new. So I’ll go ahead and install them today.

That’s good to hear. I guess I should look at the numbers on mine. I didn’t even do enough research to know that there are different generations. I think I’m probably switching to GSA this winter, either way.

As much effort as I’ve put in to my wave, my buddy’s G23 still surfs better, and he isn’t lugging around 1500lbs in lead. Mine is better than a lot of waves, but knowing his is better, with no effort, drives me insane.. hoping the hype of the GSA is real. For $1500, I’m willing to find out..

Installed the new actuators today. Ran them through the demo mode on the trailer. They seem to be functioning exactly the way they should:

I’ll get the boat back in the water on Friday to test things out. I’ll post the results. Thanks again to everyone who helped me troubleshoot the problem. Couldn’t have done it without you all.

Hell yeah dude! Looks right! How’d the install go? Curious to see what you think, now.

Installation was not terribly difficult - you just have to make sure you attach a line to the old cable before pulling it through the hull (otherwise it’s very difficult to blindly snake something back through). That’s actually the hardest part. The actuator cables are connected to a wiring harness/clip inside each rear locker so I did not have to do any wire stripping or splicing. There are small circular access panels at the back of each rear locker which gives you access to the wiring. This worked for the port side, but for the starboard side I had to unscrew and remove the entire rear panel to access the connection point. Wasn’t a big deal just took a little extra time. Now that I’ve done it once, I could probably do the whole thing again (both sides) in under 2 hours.

This was our actuator when it came out. Husband is stripping it down to keep as a spare. New one should arrive tomorrow. Safe to say it had water in it!

Unfortunately not an uncommon sight. I bet it smelled like terrible burnt electrical too?? I forget SarahStenning, what is your boat?? FYI if you add your boat info to your profile info it can help us nerds help you faster.

Freeheel4life she is a 2017 RZX2. Hubby actually stripped it down and got it working again. Sealed it where he believes the water was getting in. At a pinch it can be a spare. Can’t see where to put my boat in my profile [emoji849]

I dont use Tapatalk so dont want to offer any advice on adding your boat to your signature. Will try and remember the boat. IIRC yall keep it slipped on a lift ya?? Cant believe that motor still functions after all that water incursion. Sounds like you have a handy hubby.

Mine didn’t have the access panels, so I removed the whole back panel, anyways, which wasn’t a big deal, and probably made replacement significantly easier, especially for a first time job.

I also added transom lights, which was a different can of worms, but it was the perfect time to do so, since everything was apart.

I was in the dark, with a headlamp on, so I just cut and used butt connectors, instead of trying to get the contacts out of that plug, which I wasn’t even sure came out, at the time.

Glad you got her ripping again, and can get back out on the water!! I personally like learning how some of this stuff works, in case I ever need to dig into something to save a day or weekend..

Any one have tips for changing the actuators?

My new RZX2 - wake is terrible - what am I doing wrong?

I have had the updated actuators (a couple times) plus the relocation from platform to transom and again have another failed actuator. The constant problem is getting old especially since the boat is kept a few hours from the dealer. They have been great and are getting me another actuator...

My question is will the 2020 rams and GSA plates be available as retrofit? I am tired of the embarrassment and loss of surf time I keep running into. Especially when you have neighbors with other brands riding along. My experience has not helped sell any Tige’s in my area. I am still a fan but need a permanent fix instead of replacing a couple actuators every 10-20 hours of use.

They’re pretty straightforward. Pull the access panels to get to the inside of the transom, to access the wiring, 2 pins hold the actuators to the plate and top mount, 3 screws to pull the mount from the transom. Seal everything up good for the re-install.

That sucks dude! I’ve only had to do mine once so far, and it’s maddening that these POS actuators were used for so long, with so many problems.

Other brands are using the same Lenco actuators, and having the same problems, so it isn’t necessarily a “brand” problem, but why there wasn’t a solution found earlier, is kinda beyond me. Maybe it just didn’t exist, until now??

A Tige rep on here eluded to the new system not being available for retrofit, because of the software for the new style actuators. If I remember right, off the top of my head, he kinda said it wasn’t ruled out for down the road, but that it wouldn’t be any time soon, basically.

The GSA plates can be retrofitted on, but it’s the same actuators. Info on this is kinda few and far between. I’m going to call GSA and try and get the lowdown.. I’m also curious if the GSA plates are any easier on the actuators themselves, hopefully preventing, or slowing, future failures.

Jason could speak to it more than I but I would bet GSA configured actuators have less of a failure rate but will still fail occasionally. The geometry of the actuators are a lot different between GSA and TAPS3 so I bet it helps. MasterCrafts GEN2 surf system has very similar actuator geometry to GSA and I'm still doing approximately an actuator a week on MCs. Got one sitting in front of the shop right now waiting to come in.
