Ballast plus wake shaper still can’t surf

I have 750 in the bow and 850 in each locker. Wake shaper and can’t get any push.. the wave looks great but to me it looks like it’s too long. Boat is a 2008 z1. What can I do?

clear the bow weight. 150-200# at most, depending on your crew size. That boat wants all the weight in the rear.

Have you surfed before on other boats?

        Speed? TAPS? Board? Skill level?

Speed and bow weight will shorten the wave and lengthen the pocket. This can make it tough on a slow board or novice surfer to stay in the pocket.

I have an 08 Z1 as well. With ballast and a wake shaper it throws out a great wave for surfing. On our boat goofy side is both rear bags full and the bow bag full with taps at 6 to 8. Regular side is only rear bags full and taps at zero.

Taps at 2.. crew of 4 or 5... the boat struggles to get out of the water.. may need a new prop.. broadcast hyperlight begin board.. the wake looks good to me just can’t get going without the rope

Have you ever surfed before? (again)

Broadcast is a pretty slow board. Boat speed?

I have surfed 5 or 6 times from the boat and speed is at 10-11

Surfing has technique, it isn't just about the size of the wave. If you have never successfully surfed ropeless I wouldn't necessarily throw more weight at it.

Just my 2 cents. I've been behind my R23 4-5 time and can't go very long, but I know it's me and not the boat.

                    Here's a guy on a 2010 Z1 ropeless with no ballast?
