Ballast in bow for 2000 Tige 2100V Limited

I have searched the forum and I cannot find an answer to this question. I want to put an under the seat V-shaped sac in the bow of the boat (putting a 650 in each rear locker at stern). Any suggestions as to what will fit? By the way, we are trying to set the boat up for surfing and wakeboarding. We are very new to both and just bought our boat. Due to younger kids int he boat, I want all ballast hidden so that seating is still available. Thank you for the support and this is an awesome site.

I have helped dial in this exact boat!! And it makes a monster wave and an awesome wakeboard wake.

The bag that CHPTHRIL Mentioned is perfect for the bow of that boat. I would say 400lbs is the perfect call, you can probably squeeze 500 out of it but it will pop the seats open. I would highly recommend running dual drains on the bow bag! Otherwise you risk not getting all the water out.

Check out Wakeballast.com pick up 10 bags (500lbs) place (250) under each of your 650lbs in the rear and get a Mission Delta for surfing and you are done.

      Surfing Setup:
      Taps@ 2-3
      Speed- 11.2
      Fill Everything you have
Stack the Wakeballast bags as far back as possible under your 650lbs bags.
Mission Delta low as possible on the hull as far back on the hull as possible

      Wakeboarding:
The 500lbs Wakeballast in the rear (250 a Side)
Fill your bow as much as possible
23-24 Cleans up both sides very nicely.
      TAPS @1-2

      Enjoy!

I have a 2001 2100V and I just recently installed the Straight Line Sumo 750 bow sac. I was going to go with the 500 but the 750 was close in price and I figured it would fill every bit of available space. I'm guessing I get around 500 pounds in it. It actually takes longer to fill than my 600lb rears using the same pump. The only difference is the rears have 1" hose and the bow sac has 3/4". I used dual bow drains and tee'd the vent to the starboard drain with a check valve.

Looks good. I need to do this to my 99 21V but the wife has already told me I need to pump the brakes on all the boat tweaking ( I'm in the middle of redoing the floor with Minors Moss AKA poor mans Deckadance)

Do you have any pictures of your fill pumps and where you placed them?

Yankees39, Here are some pics. I didn't plan well for expansion last year and only went with 1-1" thru hull for my port surf bag. This year I expanded and made the manifold for the starboard and bow sacs. I still can fill all 3 in about 9 minutes so that's good enough for me. Let me know if you need any more photos of the balast install, I have a ton.

Yankees39, Do you have a thread going for your Minors Moss floor install? I'm very interested. This might be my spring 2018 project and I'm leaning heavily towards a Deckadence product.

Chopper515 I really like that manifold, very clean looking. I wonder what times you would fill if you had a second Thru hull? 9 min beats throwing pumps over the side.

How well do those back checks work? Do you ever have to close the Brass valve on the Thru hull to prevent the bags draining out the fill line? Or do the back checks work sufficiently? On my friends Malibu he didn't install this back checks and if he doesn't close the brass thru hull valves his bags will drain When under way it's somewhat annoying.

What would you have different if you would have plumbed it all in at once? 2 thru hulls 1 for the back bags and one for the front?

I don't have a thread going for the miners moss flooring but if you want I'll take some pictures and can post them. I just got the Marine Adhesive glue and glued the bottom of the three pieces together tonight and am letting it dry. Tommorw I will glue the top inside joints of those pieces. I have already made my template. Once I get it glued together it will cut it out put it in the boat if it looks good I'll then rip out carpet and put some type of rhino liner down and call it a project. That's the plan at least. I can't wait to get the carpet out. When it gets soaked with kids, nieces and nephews in and out of the boat it reeks!

I guess you could answer how fasts you could fill the bags with separate thru holes with how fast you can drain the bags?

I have vented loops on each of the fill lines. No problems with passive draining or filling. I only shut the ball valve when I leave it floating in the water overnight. I couldn't find a photo of my vented loops at the installed location but I found the one below. They are installed on the wall just behind the back seat in the v-drive/engine compartment.

If I had to do it again I'd use 1-1.25" thru hull with a similar manifold using 1.25" pvc. That would be plenty to handle 3 1200gph pumps. Wakemakers.com says that the 1.25" can handle 5900gph. I had a problem finding a good space for 2 separate thru hulls.

You should start up a thread on your floor project, I'd definitely be interested to see your progress.

That check valve you see near my manifold was installed before I got the vented loops. I DID have issues with passive filling and draining with only the check so I went with the vented loops when I expanded.

                          Yankee,

With the right design, single thru-hull per pump can be no faster or slower than the single thru-hull. By the looks of the above pics, it seems the bow sac fill line is taking the scenic route to the bow. This adds head pressure, further reducing the pump's flow rate at the sac. An aerator pump can see a 20%-25% reduction at the pump. Add that to a longer hose travel and lift, you can see how the larger rear sacs will fill faster.

Depending on the boat and system design, sometimes multiple thru-hulls the best way to go. More often, I steer away from a single manifold for an aerator pump system.

I forgot to answer your fill time question. My rears drain in about 5-6 minutes vs. my 9 minute fill time with the constricting 1" manifold.

Interesting. I need to put some funds away and purchase some equipment! Got to many other Irons in the fire so it will have to wait a little longer.

Chopper I will go out to the garage and take some pictures and try to remember to take pics at each step and do a write up on it all when I finish.
