suck gate keeps falling of...... pictures of placement would help thx

since my 21V 2000 has a big TIGÉ decal of it, i'm trying to figure out where you guys "stick it"

i did : the holes on back of cups for hydro lock
put two handles side by side for more "grip"
    got the HOD handle.....

i am about to remove sticker and remove wax on back end to improve grip.....

pls pictures are worth a 1000 words :roll eyes: so go crazy, so it might help a lot of other owners.

and lastly, anybody in colder lakes? or northern areas?

My lake is cold. Suck gate stays on fine. What handle are you using?

Sounds like you have to make sure it's not on any stickers. I haven't tried mine in the water yet but I've stuck it on the side of the boat and I can't pull it off with all my weight in the garage.

my plastic handle version popped right off with wax. The new aluminum handle stays on without removing wax.

guess it would help if I fully read your post. The plastic HOD flexes too much allowing it to pop off.

get this one which will swap right into your design and will not move

Mine won't stay on over the decal so I place mine below the chine. It works fine there and stays on with no problem.

thanks guys, me and my clean boat... ill remove the wax.... to limit flex, drill in the cups rather than the handles... and stick it where no stickers have gone before, since the aluminium handle might be here in two weeks

any, and all ideas will be taken seriously.

for those uncertain about gates.... i doubled (while it lasted) my length so 20feet of amazing wake, less lip and height but re ballasting the right way will help that. PERFEFCT wake for beginners and intermediates. skimmers will looooooooove. will post some pics (if i can figure how )

I have the same boat and I imagine the same sticker. My boat likes the gate as close to the back of the boat as possible. That means sticking it right on the sticker. I have no issues with it falling off.
My gate is set up to run "backwards" compared to most and is at a 60* angle instead of the normal 90ish.

Hard to believe the sticker is the problem.

I made mine with the plastic HOD handle and it stays on fine. I did make mine with more angle image.jpg
It does work but is different from a listed wave. More push but less of a perfect clean sharp lip.

hope this helps, never falls off, and my boat is waxed. I drilled though handle, not cups.

Plastic one fell off all the time on 3 different boats. (RZ2, Supra 24', and Natique 205) Aluminium handle on the same 3 boats has not fallen off once.

I think it also depends on the quality of the rubber cups. When I went to Harbor Freight I opened up 4 boxes of handles and picked the pair of cups that seemed the smoothest on the bottom. There were a few that had imperfections from popping out of the mold so they weren't totally flat on the bottom and might have a hard time keeping a seal. I have ordered an aluminum handle anyhow, but I'll be trying out my HF plastic handle in a few days.

I use the red handle from Harbor Freight and it has not fallen off a single time. I tried to make a more aesthetically appealing gate with all black materials and ordered the black HOD handle and it was junk, would stay on long enough to get back to the captains seat. The rubber on the black HOD handle is really soft and flexible, so, I even tried trading the rubber cups out for the ones from the Harbor Freight handle and it still wouldn't hold.

Had the same problem on our RZ2 staying on. Once I moved it down to flatter surface, it hasn't come off once. Upper spot has a very slight curve. I know it's a different model but it's what we did.
