    R20 Bow Ballast Upgrade

Hi all ... I would have thought I could have found an existing thread on this but maybe I'm not searching correctly or something ... anyway, I have a 2014 R20 that I bought new and I oped for the heavier surf ballast option. I've since upgraded rear sacks to 1000# but I'm still just running the factory front ballast and I think I need some more weight up front to balance things out (love the added weight in the rear btw). I would like to add weight in the front but keep everything under the seats and on factory pumps, but I can't remember how much factory bow ballast my boat came with and I can't find in online either. So couple of questions: (1) does anyone know how much bow ballast came on the 2014 R20 with Surf ballast option, and (2) anyone have experience upgrading that bow ballast while keeping everything under the seats?? I see options on Wagemakers.com but not sure what i have, so not sure what would be an upgrade, etc.

    1) the surf ballast includes 2, 200 pound sacs on either side. But from what I can tell they don't fill completely, because when I put a 400 on the seats it sinks down a lot more.
    2) I know some people have put in a full 400 but I don't see any advantages with that.

We purchased this sac from wakemakers (link below) that pits pretty good on one side on the seats and it really lengthens out the wave.

The only bad thing now is that it isn't 100 dollars off.

Your boat comes with 400 lbs up front from the factory. This can be in the form of 1 400 lb bag or two seperte 200 pound bags (not sure what the R20 system config was in 2014 but it's one of the two).

My previous boat was an RZR and most RZR or R20 owners will agree the problem your going to have is there's not that much room up there for anything else. There have been threads on the forum where owners put bigger bags in the bow but realistically I don't think they were getting a substantial amount of more weight. You also have to be careful of extra weight in the bow cause it's tends to be easy to dunk the bow.

There may be some room for lead up there. Could try leadwake.com

Thanks ... 2x200 lbs sounds right (they are def separate but I always fill both to capacity). The lead is a good idea too - really good. My issue is that my kids are still pretty young and move around a lot in the boat, so I need all the space I can get since we park them in the bow with snacks when it's time to surf (and then it's back to tubing after they start to loose their patience), so I'm really trying to avoid a sack on the seat in the bow. Don't get me wrong, my boat surfs really well, but I would like a longer cleaner wave sometimes if possible .... I surfed a 2016 Z1 with Taps3 a couple weeks ago .... WOW! Thanks for the ideas and please keep them coming.
