I thought that as long as I'm at this I will add a few holes etc. to allow for fitment of a NSS style plate as well.

Question: Does the plate NEED to extend to the water line?

In most cases this would be above the level of the platform with a heavily weighted boat. I'm estimating that while still, my platform is probably 3-4" under water with large even weighting. I've never looked at water line when evenly weighted at surf speeds. We are usually going 20+mph when evenly weighted if you know what I mean. I looked at a few NSS pics and theirs is entirely under the platform when deployed. A few DIY versions out there have gone to the trouble to have it above the platform presumably to have it extend up to water line.

          Thoughts? Recommendations?

          Thx.

When evenly or mostly even weighted, this would be fully underwater.

True. And does that limit it's performance potential relative to a NSS type plate? I haven't seen any hugely positive comments with respect to the flow system so far. It obviously works because the basic principles apply. I'm going to look to see what the chatter is on the flow system. I really haven't heard much so far. I'm probably not looking the right places yet.

This is the same basic concept of the NSS. The moomba guys love it and the waves look great. Your design looks amazing!!

Aluminum? Stainless? Want some kickstarter money?

Aluminum for now and thicker than it really needs to be. Should be easy to drill/tap in place if there is other experimenting to be done.

I'm going to add some additional holes and considerations for hingesGate oblique.jpgGate top.jpgGate back.jpg. Designed for lift-off hinges for easy removal. Still needs some bracing of some type as well.

Awesome work, i think the flow will work better then the gate style. Most people report better delayed convergence with the NSS. Which this copies. Nice to have both opions though.

I read only one review on Flow and if I recall they --weren't-- very impressed. Have you read others that are more positive? It would be fun to fill the whole dang boat up and switch back and forth. Just sayin...

I would also heavily consider one that is proven to make a difference, that is for sure.
